The percussive house of the Paradise terraces

On the terraces of Amnesia and in the booth at Hï Ibiza, Jean Pierre has turned percussive house into a language of his own: dirty grooves, raw minimalism, and a dry techno that reveals both the asphalt of New York and his Colombian roots. An affiliate of Cuttin' Headz, The Martinez Brothers' label, and founder of Pakate Records, his name has established itself on the international circuit as a selector of long sets, more interested in the dancefloor journey than the three-minute chorus.

Cali, Halcyon and the Output school

Born in Queens, he grew up between hip hop and his brother's stories about Sound Factory. In his first year of high school, he was sent to live with his father in Cali, where around 2001 he started DJing for the first time, at fifteen years old with two CD players. Upon his return to New York, he started in neighborhood afterhours until promoter Robert Hernandez opened the basement of Pacha NYC to him, and later Cielo and Asseteria, opening for Oscar G, Boris, or Chris Vargas.

In the 2010s, he set up a studio, released the album Nervous Nitelife: Jean Pierre (2013) on Nervous Records, and the Lost In Queens EP (2014) on Victor Calderone's Waveform Recordings. Who U Mad At? was part of Loco Dice In the House (Defected / Desolat). The definitive leap as a selector came with his work at Halcyon, the Brooklyn vinyl shop: Output signed him first for the Panther Room and then for the main room.

Cuttin' Headz, Miami and Pakate

Together with Jesse Calosso, he signed The Shuffle with The Martinez Brothers (2018) for Cuttin' Headz and later Star Struck with Ambrxse. The catalog expanded to Hot Creations, Desolat, Mindshake, Rawthentic, and Boogeyman. After the closure of Output and Halcyon, he moved to Miami, where the pandemic focused him on the studio and mixdowns. There, Pakate was born, a label that has provided a channel for FLETCH, Daniel Orpi, or Reelow and functions as a bridge between New York, Latin America, and Europe.

Barcelona and the album of no turning back

Based in Barcelona, 2024 and 2025 took him to Space Miami, Music On, Sunwaves, Unum, and Ibiza: Hï, Pacha, Amnesia, Eden, Tantra, and UNVRS. In October 2025, he released his second album, No Turning Back, the nineteenth release on Pakate: eleven tracks written in the city with Natalia Roth, Daniel Orpi, Zamoras, Jamie Coins, Hanie, and Casas, spanning techno, house, minimal, rumba, and echoes of hip hop. International booking is handled by Arcade Talent. The mission has not changed: long dancefloor sets, percussive groove, and a house that doesn't ask for permission to stay.
