High melody, dark groove

Julya Karma's sets are recognized for an unusual crossover: melodies that push upwards and a hypnotic groove that suddenly turns dark. Emerging from the Brooklyn underground scene and now based in Berlin, she doesn't seek to fit into a lane—house, techno, or the gray area between both—but rather lets the moment dictate the temperature of the dancefloor.

She grew up in California, in the United States, with Lebanese roots. At age six, she started with classical piano; at home, jazz, psychedelic rock, and indie played alongside traditional Middle Eastern music. That mix remains in her sets: chord progressions, driving basslines, and a narrative that is more introspective than exhibitionist. Her first encounter with electronic music was in Las Vegas, with Avicii; from there she moved to DJing and, later, to producing. In May 2019, she moved from San Francisco to New York for an office job. Brooklyn ended up being the laboratory: Afterlife, Brooklyn Mirage, and a network of contacts that turned a side project into a career.

Radikon, Rose Avenue, and Frau Blau

Her first release, Eye of the Storm, came out in 2023 on Radikon, featuring the vocals of Frýnn, as part of the Nokta compilation. That same year, Hypnotized arrived on Rüfüs Du Sol's Rose Avenue label. In August 2024, she signed an official mix for Innervisions—over an hour and a half of house and techno—and in March 2025, she released One You Want on Frau Blau, with a remix by Musumeci. She has also worked in the Cercle format: a set at Cercle x W Hotels during ADE 2023 and a b2b with Notre Dame at the Cercle Festival 2024.

From Coachella to the Mayan Warrior desert

The booth has taken her to Coachella 2024 at the Do LaB stage, to Tomorrowland, DGTL, Time Warp, Lost Village, Audio Obscura, Space, The Brooklyn Mirage, and Berghain, as well as Afterlife and the Mayan Warrior art car at Burning Man. She has shared the bill with Dixon, Âme, Adriatique, Laurent Garnier, Sven Väth, and Rüfüs Du Sol. International booking is handled by T S Agency; in North and South America, by Liaison Artists.

Selection over formula

Between the Innervisions circuit and a schedule that already spans the United States and Europe, Karma moves as a high-voltage selector: energy in the booth, unexpected journeys, and an explicit refusal to repeat a recipe. Production is no longer an appendix: it is the other side of the same gesture, that of connecting the dancefloor with something harder to name than a genre.
