Amsterdam as a statement of intent

In just a few years, Mau P has turned the Amsterdam club pulse into a recognizable signature: powerful bass, short vocals, rave tension, and a form of tech house that works just as well in closed rooms as it does on large stages. Before this phase, Maurits Jan Westveen had developed an international career as Maurice West, an alias linked to big room and the EDM circuit. The name change in 2022 was not just aesthetic: it opened a darker, more flexible chapter closer to the house and techno he was already frequenting at more underground parties and sessions.

The mutation from Maurice West to Mau P

The breaking point came with Drugs From Amsterdam, released on Repopulate Mars. The track was born as a vocal idea recorded in voice notes and ended up becoming a global phenomenon: it reached number one overall on Beatport, entered Billboard charts, and was remixed by Reinier Zonneveld and Armand van Helden. From there, Mau P accelerated a trajectory that chained Gimme That Bounce, Your Mind Is Dirty, Dress Code, BEATS FOR THE UNDERGROUND, and On Again, tracks designed with a mix of audacity, rhythmic precision, and immediate hooks.

Club weapons with massive reach

His sound moves between tech house, house, and techno, but avoids sounding locked into a single label. Collaborations like Metro with Kevin de Vries on Afterlife, Receipts with Diplo and Gunna, Merther on Defected, The Less I Know The Better, Like I Like It, TESLA, and neck expanded his repertoire into more melodic, vocal, or directly physical territories. He has also remixed Calvin Harris and Ellie Goulding, Swedish House Mafia, and Armand van Helden, reinforcing his profile as a producer capable of crossing underground culture and festival language without losing his identity.

Baddest Behaviour and a high-voltage agenda

His stage expansion has been just as rapid. His sets have passed through EDC Las Vegas, Ultra Music Festival, Coachella, Tomorrowland, Lollapalooza, Parklife, Sonus Festival, Club Space Miami, Pacha Ibiza, Hï Ibiza, and Amnesia Ibiza. In 2025, he signed a standout performance at Coachella and climbed to the 77th spot on the DJ Mag Top 100 DJs. His Baddest Behaviour concept consolidated itself as his own party brand and residency at Pacha Ibiza, with an extended season in 2026. At the same time, the creation of Baddest Behaviour Records and the announcement of an album reinforce a broader ambition: to build his own ecosystem around his vision of the dancefloor, with immediate energy, direct aesthetics, and a sound designed to keep the audience moving.
