Biography of Melanie Ribbe
From home tapes to the global club
The trajectory of Melanie Ribbe connects a cosmopolitan sensibility with a very physical club culture. German-born and raised in Jamaica, she developed a direct relationship with music from childhood, recording mixes on cassette tapes before later training in production at the London Academy of Music Production. That intersection of technical discipline, dancefloor instinct, and international experience ended up defining a career linked to tech house, elastic bass house, and a highly percussive interpretation of the groove.
Ibiza as a combustion point
Her professional leap came after signing with her first agent in 2014 and officially debuting during Miami Music Week in 2015. Shortly after, Ibiza became a decisive platform: she performed at the opening of Amnesia Ibiza, held a two-year residency between Amnesia and Cova Santa, and developed the Melanie Ribbe & Friends concept, oriented toward club sessions with their own identity. That stage established her profile within the international circuit, with subsequent appearances in spaces and festivals such as Fabrik Madrid, We Are Festival, D-Edge São Paulo, Lollapalooza, and large-format stages like Ultra Music Festival Miami.
Dry groove, flexible bass, and her own label
In the booth, Ribbe works in a contact zone between tech house, minimal, house, and techno: tense basslines, precise percussion, and a functional energy that seeks continuity rather than excess. Her catalog has passed through labels such as Moon Harbour, Saved, Viva Limited, Mindshake, Roush, Kaluki, Elrow Music, Circus Recordings, and Drumcode Records, in addition to appearing on Toolroom compilations. One of her first recording milestones was the EP released on Moon Harbour, with Get It Right entering the Beatport Top 100, and she has also collaborated with names like Paco Osuna and Reboot.
Agápe Muzik and an expanding identity
In 2020, she founded Agápe Muzik, a label with which she expanded her role as a DJ and producer toward a position as a curator and artistic director. From that platform, she also promoted Agápe Showcases and the audiovisual format Melanie Ribbe x Drop, in addition to releasing her first artist album, DANCE AGAIN, in 2021. Her recent activity combines international tours, her own releases, and a sustained connection with Brazil through the UNLOCKED residency at D-Edge São Paulo. Overall, her profile occupies a recognizable space within the club scene: an artist with solid technique, a global discourse, and a sound centered on the groove.
