Congas, carnival and the dry beat of the north

Melé's signature is recognizable at the first drum hit: high-octane tribal house that blends Afro-Caribbean percussion, transatlantic hip hop, Chicago grooves, and the cross-pollination of styles from the British club scene. Raised between the Wirral and Liverpool, he got hooked on electronic music after seeing The Prodigy with his uncle and was already DJing by age thirteen. At eighteen, he moved to London, where UK funky, grime, garage, and tribal coexisted in the same night and finished shaping his palette.

Boiler Room, Annie Mac and the Essential Mix

His first Boiler Room in 2011 launched him into the international circuit when he was barely eighteen. Constant support from Annie Mac on BBC Radio 1 and the carnival-esque track Ambience, released in 2015, put him on the map beyond the underground scene. He has released on labels such as Unknown To The Unknown, Mixpak, Brownswood, HEIST, Circus, Edible, and Defected. His reworks include Million$Bill by Future Utopia, Armand Van Helden, and STR4TA; in the studio, he has worked with Kano and Fraser T Smith. In February 2019, he signed a two-hour Essential Mix on Radio 1. In 2022, he co-produced two tracks on Diplo's Grammy-nominated album, including Right 2 Left with Busta Rhymes.

Club Bad, from Kitchen Street to the world

In 2018, he founded Club Bad in Liverpool: a party, label, and clothing line. The series started with consecutive sell-outs at 24 Kitchen Street and guests like Benji B, DJ BORING, Paul Woolford, and Mella Dee, and jumped to Constellations and fabric in London. The label's own catalog provided dancefloor anthems like Conga Mode and Groove La Afrika, which topped the Beatport Afro House chart. In the booth, he has toured EDC Las Vegas and Mexico, CRSSD, Smart Bar, Warehouse Project, Drumsheds, ULTRA South Africa, Gilles Peterson's We Out Here, Sónar, Glastonbury, Parklife, Elrow, and Defected nights in Ibiza and Malta. In 2024, he released the Carnaval EP for Fabric Originals and Yoruba Riddim alongside KILIMANJARO on Warehouse Project Records.

Alive On Arrival, the debut album

After fifteen years of singles, remixes, and tours, on September 25, 2026, he releases his debut album on Defected, Alive On Arrival: fourteen tracks recorded between London, Miami, and Liverpool, featuring vocals from IRAH, Jords, Wonky Logic, Roland Clark, Lex Amor, RIA, Reek0, K.O.G, Bontan, and Marla Kether. The album stretches house towards British rap, soul, and global percussion without letting go of the carnival groove that has made him one of the most distinctive figures of his generation in the UK.
