Vinyl until closing at Marula

At Marula Café in Barcelona, Miguelito Superstar has turned the DJ booth into a vinyl territory where funk, disco, latin, and nu-disco are judged solely by their ability to make people dance. A resident of the early hours and Sunday Sound-Ay sessions—often 100% on vinyl, alongside Thisorder—he builds sets that change from one night to the next without losing the thread: 70s African-American groove, rare groove, dub, and Caribbean rhythms at the service of the dance floor.

A disco band in Spanish that lasted a quarter of a century

For over twenty-five years, he was the voice and one of the lyricists for Fundación Tony Manero, the Barcelona band born in 1996 to reclaim disco music when that scene barely had space in Spain. They recorded at Bikini, released Looking For La Fiesta—with the impact of Supersexy Girl—and strung together ten albums, from Sweet Movimiento and Click! to Superficial, Lugares Comunes, and Disco para adultos. On October 28, 2022, they said goodbye at Sala Apolo with the El Último Baile tour. On television, their appearance on Operación Triunfo was marked by a rebellious gesture: demanding Fraga's resignation live on air. The group insisted on bringing Spanish into disco with artisanal humor and without asking permission from the commercial circuit.

Nación Funk, the studio that sustains the scene

Parallel to the stage, he runs Nación Funk, a recording and production studio in Barcelona that has hosted Joe Bataan, Peret, Los Fulanos, Cardova, Midnight Lab Band, or, as of 2025, Marina y su Melao. As a remixer, he has signed versions for Mazoni, Makala, Wild Honey, Rabbit Rumba, or The Slingshots, and has released on labels such as Lovemonk, Vampisoul, Names You Can Trust, or Achiliboots. In 2013, he presented his first solo release, the dub mixtape Space, Time, Memory and Cats; in 2015, the EP Superficial Dubs. He is also one-third of Kokoro Disco-San, a disco, boogie, and house project with Lalo López and Thompson. During the lockdown, he launched the home label Family Matters together with his family.

Neighborhood selector, professional producer

Today, his center of gravity is in the studio and the local DJ booth: residencies at Marula, visits to the Jazz Cava in Vic, and a selector repertoire—soul, boogaloo, dub disco—far from the big booking agencies. After the end of Manero, he continues to collect vinyl and play it for people, with the same criteria that has marked his career: good taste, a full dance floor, and no rush to fit into the easy circuit.
