Birmingham, Warp and a physical idea of techno

The dry pulse of British techno from the late nineties and early two thousands runs through P.E.A.R.L.'s identity since his early years as a listener. Born in Santander and also trained in Barcelona, he turned that exposure to the harsh beats of Birmingham, the Sheffield school, and the electronic imagination associated with Warp into his own way of understanding the dancefloor: frontal percussion, mental tension, industrial layers, and depth without losing impact. His language does not function as nostalgia, but as a current reading of a club culture based on character and criteria.

From Agony Forces to a personal vocabulary

Before consolidating his solo project, he participated in Agony Forces, a Cantabrian formation that operated between 2006 and 2013, first as a trio and later as a duo. That stage allowed him to experiment with live performance, production, and a harsh, functional techno that would mark his later development. In 2007, he began releasing under P.E.A.R.L., with a first reference on Christian Wünsch's Tsunami label, and maintained other aliases for parallel territories: Basqiam, linked to a more electronic, IDM, and electro facet, and RHEA, used for an appearance on Semantica Records. That diversity delimited the space of P.E.A.R.L. as the main tool for high-voltage techno.

Falling Ethics as the axis of an aesthetic

The move to Berlin in 2012 opened a decisive phase. A year later, he founded Falling Ethics Records, initially as a vehicle for his own music and later as a platform for like-minded artists within a raw, independent, and visually curated vision. From there, he has released his own material and promoted the Moral Standards subdivision. His album Temptation Through Impatience, released in 2017, crystallized that ambition in long-play format, while his entry into the PoleGroup environment reinforced his connection with a Spanish line of austere, precise, and high-sound-pressure techno. His discography also includes works associated with Warm Up, Float, 47, Transhuman, Weekend Circuit, Mord, Gegen Records, and Room Trax.

Controlled tension in the booth and studio

As a DJ and live act, P.E.A.R.L. works with a mix of rhythmic aggression, ambient textures, and experimental sense. His sets advance through accumulation, contrast, and discharge, with a selection that unites tradition and current production. In recent years, he has maintained the activity of Falling Ethics with references such as Law Of Desire, Hand Over Fist, and the Coven Of Angels series, in addition to shared projects such as Above Us Today with Oscar Mulero and Climbing Silver with Phase Fatale. His presence on platforms and in clubs such as Boiler Room, HÖR, RSO.BERLIN, Tresor / Globus, ://about blank, and KHIDI confirms a solid position within the international techno circuit: producer, selector, and curator who understands the genre as a discipline and a physical language.
