An electrified site that became a venue

Total electrification with renewable energy did not arrive as an extra: it gave name and character to Iberdrola Music. In July 2023, the Mad Cool Festival debuted in Villaverde in a venue that the Madrid City Council had promoted as the New Festival Space of Madrid and that the private manager—today Lassenda Xperience Madrid—operates as a stable large-format site. It is not a nightclub or a venue with a weekly lineup. It is an open-air venue of 185,000 square meters, designed to set up and dismantle macro-events throughout the year, with stages powered by 100% green energy.

The industrial south as a new geography of live music

The plot is delimited by Calle Laguna Dalga, Avenida Real de Pinto, Camino de la Rabia, and the M-45, in the Colonia Marconi. The main pedestrian access opens on Laguna Dalga, opposite numbers 36-38, at the height of Laguna de Cameros. That location, adjacent to Getafe, moves the venue away from the historic center and closer to Villaverde Alto and San Cristóbal Industrial. The 2023 debut, with more than 200,000 attendees at Mad Cool, made clear the size of the artifact and also its mobility frictions in the industrial estate.

Stadium capacity, festival stage

The declared capacity is 100,000 people. In practice, the big lineups reduce the daily capacity: the 2024 Mad Cool was around 58,000 tickets per day to alleviate flows between stages. The venue is reconfigured according to the production. It has hosted Mad Cool—including dance floor electronics: The Prodigy, Justice, or Paul Kalkbrenner—, the Coca-Cola Music Experience, the Reggaeton Beach Festival, and stadium residencies like Shakira's. The artificial turf, the arch of painted containers, and the modular structures with the Iberdrola Music brand are the physical face of a space that, between dates, returns to being a vacant lot.

Sustainability as a working system

Iberdrola España presents the venue as the largest sustainable space in Europe dedicated to leisure and culture. The venue's own impact report estimates 233 tons of CO₂ avoided in the 2024 and 2025 editions of Mad Cool, with monitoring according to the GHG Protocol and ISO 20121. In March 2025, civil works began for conditioning, improvement of access, and undergrounding of the high-voltage line that crosses the plot, with a license from the Madrid City Council.

A calendar of dates, not club nights

Iberdrola Music opens according to programming. The 2026 Mad Cool celebrated ten years in this same venue, with Foo Fighters, Florence + The Machine, or Lorde. The Coca-Cola Music Experience and large-format residencies confirm that the plot has consolidated itself as the great concert venue of Madrid, with the obvious limitation of those who live by dates: without an event, there is no dance floor schedule.
