W Hollywood

The rooftop of the W Hollywood overlooks the Capitol Records building and the Hollywood sign: a nearly 360-degree viewpoint that, since 2010, has evolved from a cocktail club to a daytime pool and an immersive lounge.

The subway as a gateway to the dance floor

The complex opened to the public in January 2010 above the Hollywood/Vine station, featuring a golden glass portal inspired by the yellow brick road and a red terrazzo carpet leading into the hotel. The building, an original work by HKS, was born as a W Hotels property and residence at the most photographed intersection in Los Angeles. Downstairs, the Living Room—the brand avoids calling it a lobby—and the indoor-outdoor garden concentrated social traffic; upstairs, the deck was designed from day one as a nightlife stage, just a stone's throw from the Pantages Theatre and the Walk of Fame.

When Drai's occupied the roof

In March 2010, Drai's Hollywood debuted on that rooftop, a venue of about 1,860 square meters with a capacity for nearly 800 people, featuring a restaurant, pool, booths, and an indoor dance floor. The press saw it as the importation of the Las Vegas-style club to Hollywood Boulevard: velvet ropes, bottle service, and views of the Hollywood Hills. The restaurant closed in 2013 and the club was dismantled toward the end of that year, when Victor Drai moved his operation to West Hollywood. The deck returned to the hotel as the WET Deck.

From nightclub to Tempo Loft

Following the purchase of the property and a comprehensive renovation unveiled in October 2024, Rockwell Group redesigned the Living Room with triple-height ceilings—a bar under acrylic rods, a monumental fireplace, and 10.6-meter 3D-printed concrete curtains—and opened The Garden. The former nightclub was converted into The Loft: a glass-enclosed space with panoramic views, club lighting, VIP entrance, and a custom Tempo 3D spatial sound system, plus audiovisual mapping. The WET Deck gained the Sunrise and Sunset bars, cabanas, and sunset murals. In 2025, the hotel activated Tempo AI in public areas and appointed Tay James as musical curator, alongside Beatport and Insomniac, with sets by Mau P, Matroda, Walker & Royce, or Andre Power from Soulection.

Electronic music at the foot of Hollywood Boulevard

Today it is not a nightclub that closes at 6:00 AM, but a hotel conceived as a venue where electronic music spills into the pool—from 12:00 to 18:00, with 21+ access during parties—, into the Loft, and at summits like Beatport Connect LA, which returns to the building in 2026 for its second year. The Living Room programs live music on Fridays and Saturdays. The Great Room accommodates receptions of up to 500 people; the Loft, about 335. Eleven event rooms, valet, and the subway under your feet: the dance floor, here, starts on the sidewalk.
