Denon DJ has shaken up the DJ hardware market with the official presentation of the PRIME 4 G2. This new four-channel, four-deck standalone system is positioned as the brand's undisputed flagship, designed to operate in the most demanding environments without the need for a laptop. Powered by an eight-core ARM processor and 4 GB of RAM, the unit quadruples the computing capacity of its predecessor, the successful PRIME 4+. This immense raw power is intended to manage the Engine DJ operating system with absolute fluidity and execute complex real-time audio processes that, until very recently, required desktop software exclusively.
Integrated Stems rendering and three-dimensional MPCe pads
The most significant advancement of this unit is its ability to process Stems natively. Unlike previous generations that required pre-preparing tracks on a computer, the PRIME 4 G2 allows for isolating vocals, melodies, bass, and percussion instantly using dedicated Acapella and Instrumental buttons. All rendering is performed in the background within the unit itself thanks to its powerful internal architecture, complemented by advanced functions like Stem FX and Stem Level EQ, which give the DJ millimeter control over every sonic element of the song.
To interact with these audio divisions, the controller incorporates 16 MPCe performance pads. These buttons are not only velocity-sensitive but also integrate 3D detection technology that reads the pressure and position (X/Y axes) of the user's finger. This allows for triggering multiple effects parameters, Hot Cues, and loops from a single surface, transforming the pads into true live performance instruments.

DMX connectivity and workflow redesign
In the visual and control section, the system integrates for the first time a physical DMX interface with capacity for a full universe of 512 channels. This allows artists to synchronize and program complex lighting systems directly from the 10.1-inch HD touchscreen using the Engine Lighting software, completely eliminating the need for external interfaces or support laptops. The physical design has also grown slightly to accommodate new eight-inch jog wheels with high-resolution central LED screens, offering greater precision in scratching and track monitoring.
Added to this is an exhaustive redesign of the effects section, which now includes two assignable toggle switches (paddles), more than 25 Main FX, 10 Touch FX controllable from the screen, four Fader FX, and four Sweep FX. The dual-rail faders have also been mechanically reinforced to withstand intensive use in the most demanding clubbing sessions.
OmniSource integration and audiophile audio quality
At the sound level, the PRIME 4 G2 is designed to meet the most purist standards. It incorporates 32-bit ESS Sabre HiFi ES9017S DAC converters, guaranteeing a dynamic range of up to 119 dB with virtually zero harmonic distortion, which translates into a crystal-clear and punchy audio signal. In terms of connectivity, the hardware is a total workstation: it features Wi-Fi connectivity, Bluetooth 5.4 for mobile device integration, multiple high-speed USB ports, an SD card slot, and an internal SATA bay to install hard drives and store massive libraries.
Additionally, the brand has announced the imminent OmniSource update, a revolutionary hybrid architecture. This technology will allow users to search and mix standalone audio sources (such as USB drives or streaming services) simultaneously with third-party software like Serato DJ Pro, VirtualDJ, or Traktor Pro, unifying both worlds into a single ecosystem without interrupting the workflow.

Available on the market with a starting price of 2,599 USD (approximately 2,699 EUR in Europe), the Denon DJ PRIME 4 G2 sets a very high technical bar for the competition in the professional hardware sector. By integrating real-time track separation, native lighting control, and a multi-zone touch surface, this equipment not only updates a product line that was already successful, but completely redefines the concept of versatility and autonomy in contemporary electronic music performances.
