Hack The Music: Electronics and Hacker Culture in Madrid

Sala Siroco hosted the innovative Hack The Music proposal, merging electronic music production, hacker culture, and interactive NFC technology.

The convergence between code and clubbing in the heart of Madrid

Recently, the Espacio ArtLab at the iconic Sala Siroco was the stage for an unprecedented collision between the electronic ecosystem and the philosophy of cybersecurity. The Hack The Music project, conceived within the environment of the RootedCON congress, transformed the Madrid dance floor into a laboratory for sound and visual experimentation, blurring the traditional boundary between the artist and the spectator.

NFC interactivity and real-time synthesis

Far from proposing a conventional clubbing format, the evening opted for active public participation through the implementation of NFC technology. Through interactive cards distributed to attendees, the audience was able to simultaneously alter synthesis parameters and audiovisual effects. This dissolution of the barrier between the booth and the dance floor redefined the static concept of the DJ set, turning the event into a live co-creation session.

The sound deployment was led by DJ Moderno and his Phantom Accessories format, a session with underground nuances that traversed UK garage, french house, and retro-futuristic electro, integrating live hardware such as vocoders and theremins. For his part, the producer Inertial Theory executed Against Concrete, a powerful live hybrid set of analog techno driven by experimental devices designed to modify the generation of 303 acid lines based on external inputs.

Technology ceases to be a simple support and becomes a tool for live co-creation between the artists and the dance floor.

The future of immersive electronic performance

The visual integration was handled by the artist OFF_DISARTIST with his Liminal.exe project, completing a holistic sensory experience that reacted to the stimuli of the room. These types of initiatives demonstrate that the electronic music scene is evolving towards formats where the algorithm, the groove, and hacker culture converge. The success of this proposal opens a new paradigm for independent promoters and labels looking to radically innovate in audience interaction.
