On May 30, 2026, the global electronic community suffered an irreparable loss. David Potter Christman, known worldwide as DJ Chicago, passed away at the age of 80 in Bangkok. The co-founder of the legendary group 1200 Micrograms lost his life following complications from a stroke, sepsis, and a heart attack. His son Shane confirmed the news through an official statement, triggering a wave of condolences in the clubbing industry.

The farewell from his musical brother

Recently, his inseparable partner Raja Ram took to his official channels to pay him a historic tribute. The British artist recalled the beginning of their brotherhood on the beaches of South Anjuna, Goa, in 1990. He highlighted Chicago's inexhaustible energy on the dancefloor, reminiscing about how he was always the first to arrive at the raves under the coconut trees and the last to leave at sunrise.

The eternal impact of 1200 Micrograms

The synergy in the studio between the two, along with Riktam and the late Bansi, catapulted 1200 Micrograms to the top in 1999. With more than 80 joint productions, they defined the standards of synthesis and high BPMs of contemporary psytrance. Key figures in the scene such as Astrix have joined the collective mourning, honoring a creator who expanded psychedelic culture to more than 60 countries. His remains will be laid to rest in a ceremony in Koh Phangan, with a future memorial scheduled on the island of Ibiza, where his unmistakable groove will live on.
