The contemporary electronic music landscape is preparing for an unprecedented milestone. This May, the acclaimed American producer Skrillex, in synergy with the prestigious institution Berlin Atonal, has officially announced the launch of CONTRA. Conceived as a cultural platform, this initiative will debut on May 30th and 31st at the majestic facilities of Kraftwerk Berlin.

Defying traditional festival conventions, the curation dispenses with classic headliners to propose a continuous immersive experience. The inaugural program features over 70 artists distributed throughout the weekend. Among the confirmed names are figures of the stature of Blawan, Juliana Huxtable, Flowdan, Crystallmess, and Bladee, in addition to established talents such as ISOxo, Knock2, Varg²™, and Ahadadream. This sonic amalgam seeks to blur the boundaries between bass music, industrial techno, mutant reggaeton, and avant-garde currents.
Monumental Architecture and Sensory Design
The monumentality of Kraftwerk Berlin, with its imposing concrete pillars and almost cathedral-like scale, will serve as a canvas for the renowned Parisian design studio Matière Noire. Responsible for the scenography, their spatial intervention aims to transform the cold industrial aesthetic into intimate and immersive atmospheres. Through complex light installations that dialogue directly with acoustic frequencies, the creative team will manage to dissolve the distinctions between light, sound, and the architecture of the place itself.
