Ultra Music Festival confirms its return to Mexico in 2026

The strategic return to Mexico City

After a prolonged eight-year hiatus, the international brand Ultra Music Festival has made its return to Mexico City official. The electronic music event will take place on November 7 and 8, 2026. Unlike its first two Mexican editions, held in 2017 and 2018 at the Foro Pegaso in Toluca, the organization has opted to move the infrastructure to the newly renovated Estadio Banorte, located in the nerve center of the country's capital.

This venue, which has received a capital injection of over 2.1 billion Mexican pesos for its modernization ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, now has an approximate capacity of 87,000 spectators. The decision to use a stadium of this magnitude underscores the promoter's intention to set a new standard for technical, acoustic, and logistical production in the region, also marking the first massive electronic music festival to be held at these facilities.

During its first forays into Mexican territory, the festival managed to attract more than 120,000 attendees with the participation of figures such as Martin Garrix, Axwell /\ Ingrosso, and Marshmello on the main stage, as well as Carl Cox, Dubfire, The Martinez Brothers, and Seth Troxler under the umbrella of the RESISTANCE brand. The interruption of the event after 2018 left a void in the country's large-format festival market, which is now looking to be filled with this third edition.

Stage configuration and first phase of the lineup

The musical proposal for Ultra Mexico 2026 will be structured around three main stages. The iconic ULTRA Main Stage will be dedicated to the more commercial sounds of the electronic spectrum, while the RESISTANCE stage will provide curation focused on underground techno and house. In addition, the organization has confirmed the inclusion of a third space dedicated exclusively to emerging and established talent from the local Mexican scene, avoiding relegating national artists to marginal time slots.

The first phase of the lineup, revealed a few weeks ago, shows an alignment that combines EDM pioneers with dominant figures of the current underground scene. Among the artists confirmed to headline the event are:

• Armin van Buuren, Hardwell, Afrojack, Alesso, and Steve Angello in the realm of big room, electro house, and trance sounds.
• Eric Prydz, ARTBAT, CamelPhat, and Miss Monique providing the textures of progressive house and melodic techno.
• Sara Landry, Klangkuenstler, and Boris Brejcha leading the hard techno and high-tech minimal genres.

The lineup also includes names like the electronic trio Levity and bass music producer Subtronics, diversifying the sound offering to cover subgenres such as dubstep and heavy bass.

Economic impact and positioning in the global circuit

Mexico's reincorporation into the Ultra Worldwide calendar consolidates the expansion of the brand, which currently operates on six continents with events in locations such as Tokyo, Split, Buenos Aires, and its headquarters in Miami. The RESISTANCE concept, which recently celebrated its fifth residency season at the Amnesia nightclub in Ibiza, will adapt its characteristic industrial production design to the dimensions of the Estadio Banorte to host the most purist techno performances.

The commercialization of tickets was structured in a phase format, starting with a first stage for two-day General Admission passes for 2,550 Mexican pesos, and scaling up to the VIP category, whose initial prices were around 4,400 Mexican pesos. According to the promoter's official channels, a large part of the initial phases are sold out, reflecting the high expectations of the international public and the Latin American region.

The reactivation of this massive festival in Mexico City not only represents a milestone in the year's cultural agenda, but also projects a significant economic impact for the capital's hospitality and services sector. With an expectation of massive attendance over the weekend, Ultra Mexico 2026 is positioned as one of the most relevant electronic music gatherings of the last quarter of the year globally.
