Biography of Marquee Singapore
The theater turned into an indoor carnival
Where Marina Bay Sands reserved a grand theater, TAO Group and the resort opened a three-story club in April 2019 designed as an indoor festival. Marquee Singapore, the first and only Asian location of the brand born in New York, occupies about 2,300 m² with 30-meter ceilings. The ICRAVE studio did not opt for a spectacular chandelier above the dance floor: it enveloped the audience with LEDs, mirrors, and a stage that functions as a festival-sized platform.
The Big Q and the descent to the center of the dance floor
The venue's hallmark is not a hanging grandstand, but The Big Q: a 14-meter indoor Ferris wheel with eight gondolas, each with a photo booth, that rotates in the space of the former orchestra seating. From the upper level, you can descend to dance via Sunny Slide Up, a three-story slide with two parallel 10-meter tubes, illuminated with LEDs inside and out. VIP balconies overlooking the dance floor, an enclosed smoking lounge, and its own shop complete the journey between the mezzanine, dance floor, and top floor.
Funktion-One, d&b and an 8K LED wall
The 383 m² dance floor is supported by a Funktion-One system with Full Fat Audio amplifiers and NST processing, installed by Sound Investment in their first project in Asia. A second d&b audiotechnik system covers live performances. Behind the DJ booth, a 20-meter native 8K LED screen and over 90 meters of panels on the mezzanine turn every session into a visual show. Four disco balls up to 7 meters in size and a laser park complete a production designed to compete with a main festival stage.
From Tiësto to the megaclub lineup
The opening night on April 12, 2019, was kicked off by Tiësto; the following day Afrojack played and A$AP Rocky took the stage. Since then, the club has mixed large-format EDM, trance, hip-hop, and open-format nights, with visits from Steve Aoki, Armin van Buuren, Kaskade, Above & Beyond, Sara Landry, Alok, or Timmy Trumpet. In 2024, about 186,000 attendees passed through the dance floor across 138 dates; DJ Mag placed it at No. 39 in its Top 100 Clubs 2025. It remains open as a weekend nightclub at The Shoppes, with extra nights on the first Wednesday of the month and on the eve of public holidays, until 06:00.
