The basilica as a backdrop for the dance floor

From the rooftop, the Basílica de Nuestra Señora de Lourdes is not just a tourist attraction: it is the permanent landscape of O.D.E.M., the District Observatory of Musical Exile. The physical venue is located at Calle 63 number 13-11, diagonally across from the church in the Chapinero de Lourdes neighborhood, and operates as a three-level club-bar where the capital's nightlife is observed—and danced—at rooftop height. The venue itself presents itself as a district hangout: a hybrid space of terrace, bar, and dance floor, closer to a neighborhood club with electronic programming than a circuit nightclub.

Two climates in the same building

The ground floor is dedicated to reggaeton and perreo; the rooftop terrace, outdoors, is reserved for electronic music and techno house, with views of the cathedral and the hills. In between is an indoor lounge. This division into two environments is the site's grammar: they are not itinerant party brands, but stable dance floors within the same venue. The interior opts for an industrial aesthetic with reused materials—lamps, ceilings, and tables—and a plastic-free room. The physical map is completed by the VIP area, the cloakroom, the smoking area, the cocktail bar, and a record store designed for those who come to dig for vinyl as well as stay late. The kitchen—Caballero Rojo taqueria and Guerrero burgers—and the draft beer that arrives from the brewery each week sustain the afternoon session before the DJ booth takes control.

Orbit over Lourdes

What the name promises is fulfilled above all on the terrace. There, the venue operates as an electronic club: local DJs and international guests—the Costa Rican Paul Wolsch has passed through that booth—and the proprietary Órbita series, long sets that the venue publishes as official broadcasts. The crossover on the first level is part of the same building, but the observatory identity is played out upstairs, between steel, glass, and the neo-Gothic silhouette on the other side of the street.

From four to four

The house is open from Wednesday to Saturday, with holiday Sundays. On Fridays and Saturdays, the hours run from 16:00 to 04:00; on Wednesdays and Thursdays, closing is earlier. Wednesdays and Thursdays are announced with no cover charge; on weekends, it is advisable to book. The typical journey begins on the terrace in the mid-afternoon and ends on the dance floor in the early morning, with Chapinero Lourdes—a neighborhood of bars and live music for decades—as the urban floor. O.D.E.M. does not replace that history: it climbs to its rooftop and lets it sound.
