Homegrown dubs for an insomniac dancefloor

Every season, Anz drops a whole mix of unreleased tracks: sketches, dubs, and tracks that haven't hit vinyl yet, chained together with a mischievous pitch and a British club swing that ranges from electro to UK garage, from jungle to breakbeat. The series, which began in 2015 with Autumn/Winter Dubs and became a ritual with the Spring/Summer Dubs, is her clearest calling card. During the 2020 lockdown, she wrote 74 tracks and condensed them into a cult cassette. That productivity isn't filler: it's the method of a Manchester-based producer who treats the night as a luminous continuum, without fighting over labels.

Hessle Audio, Ninja Tune, and the other halves

Born in London and raised on the soul, funk, afrobeat, and highlife that played at home, she studied in Liverpool and chose Manchester as her own city, with a stint in Madrid as well. In 2017, she won the Red Bull Riddim Rally and released her self-titled EP on Chow Down. Invitation 2 Dance (2019, 2 B Real) was dedicated to Soup Kitchen, The White Hotel, and the Chow Down and Strange Riddims crews. In 2020, Hessle Audio released Loos In Twos (NRG) and DJ Mag named her Breakthrough DJ. The following year, she launched the label OTMI —Otras Mitades— and signed All Hours to Ninja Tune, a 24-hour EP featuring You Could Be with George Riley. The PinkPantheress remix and the single Clearly Rushing (Hessle, 2023) confirmed that line of contemporary rave.

Major booths, NTS, and radio at all hours

In the booth, she mixes garage, UK funky, hardcore, footwork, and afrobeats with a liberal use of the pitch. From her Manchester studio, she maintains a monthly residency on NTS Radio and in 2021 she held the Dance Residency on BBC Radio 1. She has played at Panorama Bar, fabric, DC-10, Glastonbury, Sónar, Dekmantel, and The Warehouse Project —with a Boiler Room in Amsterdam— and has mixed for Mary Anne Hobbs. In 2022, she was nominated for Best Electronic/Dance Act at the MOBO Awards. Today, her booking is handled by Ekipa; she maintains the APC parties, the All Hours Radio project, and a dancefloor discourse that reclaims Black electronic music as something joyful, physical, and free of genre complexes.
