Three letters that already sound like an anthem

In Californian tech house, AYYBO has turned an inside joke into a brand, a label, and a dancefloor battle cry. GDB —«Goddamn, baby»— was born from a dream in which he shouted the phrase into the microphone at a festival; today it is a chorus, a greeting to the crowd, and the name of GDB Records. Raised in Anaheim, between the neighborhood ska and the records his father played in the car —Outkast, The Chemical Brothers—, he bets on dark grooves, funk, and enveloping basslines, closer to a "tasty evil" than to disco nostalgia.

From the drumline to the genre jump

In high school, he joined the drumline and ended up as the school DJ with a 150-dollar controller and YouTube tutorials, playing trap, moombahton, bass house, and pop in the courtyard. He studied cinematography but sold his camera equipment to set up his studio. In 2017, he released music as BONNEMA and in 2018 signed to Deadbeats, Zeds Dead's label; he also released music on Jadū Dala. That first push wasn't enough: for two years, he crossed hip hop, reggaeton, and Kaytranada-style grooves until anchoring himself in house. In the spring of 2021, he relaunched the project with edits of Hella Good, 1, 2 Step, or Shake That, already with the tech house pulse that identifies him.

The Hypnosis sax and a release schedule

2022 was the year of almost monthly originals. GDB and Do This were released on Altered States; Hypnosis, featuring ero808 and an impossible-to-ignore sax, exploded in July: Pete Tong, MistaJam, and DJ S.K.T included it in their sets, and the track surpassed eleven million streams on Spotify. In January 2023, Pitbull and Sermstyle transformed it into Right Or Wrong (Hypnosis) for Mr. 305. AYYBO also provides vocals for several of his tracks. On GDB Records, he has released RIZZ, Bass Glide, Demon Time, Don't Want None with Dale Move, I Don't Want To with Ragie Ban, and Dirty with blazey. Outside of his own label, he has released Play Some Records on Sweat It Out, Certified on Insomniac Records, Obsession with Taylr Renee on Experts Only, 4 Ya Mind with Discip on Solid Grooves, a remix of Nothing Wrong on Crosstown Rebels, and the remix of Party Time, by Tiga and Chris Lake, on Black Book Records, invited by Lake himself.

From Club Space to the Yuma closing

The DJ booth has followed the same rhythm. After supporting Dillon Francis —as DJ Hanzel— at Exchange LA and headlining at Sound Nightclub with Space Yacht, he has filled dates in Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Miami, and Toronto. He has played at elrow, HARD Summer, Outside Lands, Club Space Miami, Proper NYE, EDC Orlando, and Lollapalooza Chicago. At Coachella 2026, he closed the Yuma tent side-by-side with Green Velvet. Michael Bibi, The Martinez Brothers, Vintage Culture, John Summit, Pete Tong, and Dom Dolla have backed his sound. Today he is a producer, vocalist, and director of his own videos: a package designed so that the dancefloor responds, once again, with a GDB.
