The resident who holds Amnesia from within

At Amnesia Ibiza there are DJs who arrive on tour and leave at dawn. CAAL belongs to another breed: one who lives the club as a daily craft. In 2006 he landed at Cova Santa, the space linked to the same group. A year later he stayed permanently as a resident DJ. Two decades later he is still in the booth and, in addition, is responsible for the technical sound area: the anchor for the artists who arrive, the ear that cares for the system and the connecting thread between the dance floor and the machinery of the night.

That residency is not an honorary position. Season after season he appears at Pyramid, elrow, Hyte, People From Ibiza, Together and at the club's opening and closing parties. In 2022 he closed the season in a b2b with Mar-T. In 2021, BBC Radio 1 Dance brought together Mar-T, Luca Donzelli and Caal in an Amnesia b2b2b. In 2026, with the venue's fiftieth anniversary, he is still at the Opening Party, at the Pyramid Special of IMS alongside Sven Väth and Luciano, at Resistance and at People From Ibiza, and closes the Pyramid cycle in a b2b with De La Swing.

From Caal Smile to the big room groove

Before signing as CAAL he performed and released as Caal Smile. The leap in alias was sealed around 2012 with The Horn EP, alongside Lutiani, on Wow! Recordings. The previous stage was forged in the house scene of Barcelona: residencies at Pacha, technique loaded with samples, loops and acapellas, and a dance floor character designed for thousands of people. With Lutiani he signed Mamboo, selected by Roger Sanchez for Release Yourself 10th Anniversary on Stealth. He received repeated nominations for the Deejaymags Awards for best resident of an Ibiza club and best DJ of the year.

As a producer he has placed music on Defected, Repopulate Mars, Elrow Music, Do Not Sleep, Suara, Deeperfect, Moan, Sanity, Roush, Abode and Baumhaus. Together with Baum he has built a catalog explicitly for the dancefloor: Pump It Up, Mama Drama, Downtown Beat, Pop Yo Booty or Chinese Girl. The current sound moves between tech house, house and techno, with deeper incursions into the minimal and deep tech axis.

Nomadic winter, home summer

When Amnesia closes its shutters, CAAL goes on tour through Europe, Asia and South America, often with the Amnesia Ibiza Present parties. He returned to Barcelona, where he started, and maintains the habit of arriving early at the venue to read the crowd. In 2013, his first set in the new Main Room booth during an Opening remained a personal milestone. Today his figure is that of a long-distance resident: less of a headliner and more of a backbone for a club that continues to bet on dancing.
