The New York house that refuses to pick a side

Hey Hey still sounds like it just came out of the studio. Released first on Objektivity and later signed by Defected Records, the track became one of the contemporary house anthems and the most recognizable calling card for Dennis Ferrer: a producer capable of uniting gospel, afro, techno, and soul without diluting any of those languages. His 2010 Grammy nomination for his Objektivity Mix of Dido's Don't Believe in Love confirmed in the industry what the dancefloors already knew.

From Morph and Synewave to the crossover with Kerri Chandler

Before that status, Ferrer came from the nineties techno underground. With Damon Wild, he released techno under the name Morph and worked around Synewave. In 1998, he co-founded the label Sfere with Kerri Chandler, a laboratory for vocal house, afro, and gospel. The global leap came in 2003 with Sandcastles, alongside Jerome Sydenham on Ibadan, and was consolidated with Son of Raw. Remixes like Blaze's Most Precious Love featuring Barbara Tucker, and Fish Go Deep's The Cure and the Cause, placed him among the most sought-after remixers of the decade.

King Street, Defected, and a thesis album

The World as I See It (2006), on King Street Sounds and Defected, brought together that breadth: Church Lady, Touched the Sky, Transitions, How Do I Let Go, or P 2 Da J. In parallel, he launched Objektivity, home to his own catalog and talents he mentored, including The Martinez Brothers. Sinfonia Della Notte (Strictly Rhythm, 2009), The Red Room, and later Maniac 3000 (2016) marked turns toward a darker and more technical house, without abandoning the voice or the swing.

DJ booth, Ibiza, and the present live

As a DJ, Ferrer has brought that same restlessness to residencies and festivals. In 2018, he promoted Misfits Society at Blue Marlin Ibiza, debuted at fabric in London, and launched the Local Heroes project with Skream, with Old Yella as the first single. He grew up between the Bronx and the New York club scene, lives in Union City (New Jersey), and continues to tour: Time Warp USA 2025 at Brooklyn Storehouse, ANTS Metalworks at Ushuaïa Ibiza, and recent remixes like Affirmations or Fyutr keep him at the center of global house, faithful to a simple idea: if it moves the body and has soul, it's worth it.
