Origins and First Steps

Dimitri Thivaios, known worldwide by his stage name Dimitri Vegas, was born on May 16, 1982, in the Flemish municipality of Willebroek, located in the province of Antwerp, Belgium. Of Greek descent, Dimitri showed a deep and undeniable passion for electronic music from a very early age. In his youth, he began taking his first steps as a DJ in small local clubs and community radio stations like BeatFM. With an adventurous spirit and an insatiable hunger for success, in 1999 he made the brave decision to leave Belgium to embark on an extensive tour of Europe. This formative journey led him to reside in iconic club culture destinations such as Mallorca, Halkidiki in Greece, and Ibiza, where he perfected his technique and forged his distinctive sound, an energetic fusion of Electro House and progressive elements.

The Birth of a Legendary Duo

After several years of cutting his teeth in the European underground scene, Dimitri returned to Belgium and joined creative forces with his younger brother, Michael Thivaios, giving life to the monumental project Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike. The brothers' career took off meteorically starting in 2009, but the true turning point came in 2010 when they were chosen to compose the official anthem for the emerging festival Tomorrowland. Their association with this colossal Belgian event not only defined the characteristic sound of Big Room House worldwide but also positioned them unanimously as the main ambassadors and undisputed residents of the brand. Together, they founded their influential record label, Smash The House, in 2010, a platform from which they have promoted countless talents and released some of the biggest commercial hits of the decade.

Consecration and Multidisciplinary Expansion

Throughout his prolific career, Dimitri Vegas has reached unprecedented milestones in the music industry. Together with his brother, he has repeatedly occupied the coveted number one position on DJ Mag's prestigious Top 100 DJs list, consolidating their status as global superstars. In addition to his overwhelming musical success, collaborating with titans like David Guetta, Martin Garrix, and Steve Aoki (with the latter they form the powerful supergroup 3 Are Legend), Dimitri has proven to be an extremely versatile artist. In recent years, he has aggressively expanded his professional horizons by delving into the world of acting and Hollywood cinema, achieving notable appearances in major blockbuster productions such as Rambo: Last Blood and Jurassic World Dominion. His inexhaustible capacity for reinvention and his magnetic stage presence ensure that the legacy of Dimitri Vegas continues to dominate both macro dance floors and international screens.
