A club grammar that crossed over into pop

The pulse of Disclosure is recognized by a very precise combination: muscular house drums, British garage bass, soul and R&B vocals treated with pop sensibility, and a clean production that retains dancefloor nerve. The duo of brothers Guy and Howard Lawrence grew up in Reigate, Surrey, and emerged at the beginning of the 2010s with a contemporary reading of UK garage, 2-step, and house that connected with the British club tradition without sounding nostalgic.

From the youth circuit to the impact of Settle

After early cuts like Offline Dexterity and Carnival / I Love... That You Know, Disclosure began to consolidate with Tenderly / Flow and the EP The Face, released by Greco-Roman in 2012. That same year, Latch, featuring Sam Smith, changed the scale of the project: it turned their club language into a global song and anticipated the balance that would define their debut. Settle, released in 2013 by PMR Records, brought together collaborations with AlunaGeorge, Jessie Ware, Eliza Doolittle, London Grammar, and Sam Smith, reached number one in the UK, and earned a Grammy nomination in the Best Dance/Electronic Album category.

Festival songs with British bass DNA

The second stage expanded the formula with Caracal in 2015, a record larger in structure and vocal cast, with appearances by Lorde, Gregory Porter, The Weeknd, Sam Smith, Nao, and Miguel. Songs like Omen, Holding On, Jaded, and Magnets reinforced Disclosure's international dimension and maintained their link to large-format live performances. After a hiatus, the duo returned with a series of singles and EPs that led to ENERGY in 2020, a work with a more rhythmic and extroverted focus that also received a Grammy nomination, alongside My High in the Best Dance Recording category.

Independence, DJ booth, and expanded present

In 2021, they signed a volume of DJ-Kicks, highlighting their facet as selectors and their knowledge of the dancefloor beyond the song format. Alchemy, released in 2023 through Apollo Records and AWAL, marked a more independent phase focused on their own sonic universe. Since then, Disclosure has alternated between club-oriented productions, collaborations, and a return to live performance, with tracks like She’s Gone, Dance On, Arachnids, King Steps, NO CAP, Deeper, and The Sun Comes Up Tremendous. Their current position is that of a project capable of moving between the festival, the DJ set, and far-reaching electronic song without abandoning the matrix that made them recognizable: British house, garage, elastic bass, and vocal melody.
