The hit that opened the doors to pop

Few producers have turned a track as abrasive as Turn Down for What into a gateway to global pop. Before that leap, DJ Snake had built his identity between hip-hop, graffiti, and the Paris club culture. Raised in Ermont, he adopted the nickname Snake during his time as a graffiti artist, started DJing at fourteen, and turned toward production at nineteen. The Cut Killer scene in La Haine, along with the influence of KRS-One and Cypress Hill, marked a background where urban rhythm and dancefloor energy were always connected.

From Lady Gaga to planetary anthems

His entry into the industry came from the studio. He participated in Lady Gaga's Born This Way, a work linked to a Grammy nomination for Album of the Year in 2012, and collaborated again on ARTPOP, including Applause. In 2013, he released Bird Machine and, alongside Lil Jon, Turn Down for What, which reached number four on the Billboard Hot 100 and won the Billboard Music Award for Top Dance/Electronic Song. Then came Get Low with Dillon Francis, his remix of You Know You Like It, and Lean On with Major Lazer and MØ, a sequence that brought trap, moombahton, and festival bass to massive audiences.

A catalog designed without borders

The album Encore appeared in 2016 with tracks like Middle and Let Me Love You, the latter featuring Justin Bieber. Carte Blanche, released in 2019, expanded his reach with Magenta Riddim, Taki Taki, and Loco Contigo, linking electronic, hip-hop, reggaeton, and Caribbean references without sticking to a single formula. That vision also carried over to Pardon My French, the collective he shares with Tchami, Malaa, and Mercer, and to Premiere Classe, the label he founded in 2018. Live, he has occupied symbolic spaces in Paris: he performed next to the Arc de Triomphe in 2017, headlined the Parc des Princes in 2022, and presented The Final Show at the Stade de France in May 2025.

Nomad, Algeria, and the flip side of The OUTLAW

Disco Maghreb reinforced his bond with his Algerian roots in 2022 through a production and video shot in Algeria. Two years later, he debuted The OUTLAW, an alter ego focused on a darker side of bass music and dubstep, presented at Lost Lands. That duality led to Nomad, his third studio album, released on November 7, 2025: seventeen tracks conceived as a journey between cultures and genres, featuring Stray Kids, J Balvin, Future, Travis Scott, Amadou & Mariam, Damian Marley, Don Toliver, and Peso Pluma, among others. In 2026, he returned to the main stage of Ultra Miami with a set that brought together his greatest hits and his recent production. His current position rests on that double scale: stadium spectacle, pop sensibility, and a constant search for sounds capable of circulating between scenes and countries.
