Careless, the anthem that crossed the British underground

British house in the early 2010s found in Careless one of its most persistent tracks: number one on Beatport for over two weeks, more than fourteen million streams, and a rare crossover between the London club scene and mainstream radio. Signed in 2013 by Aus Music, the EP consolidated Dusky as a benchmark UK duo, capable of convincing Loefah, Joy Orbison, Jamie Jones, or Pete Tong without diluting a sound of deep bass, rhythmic detail, and vocal hooks.

Pirate radio, Solarity, and the leap to Anjunadeep

They met during high school in Camden, London, united by pirate radio stations, nineties happy hardcore, garage, and club electronica. After studying production and composition, they released on Anjunadeep as Solarity, with a more hypnotic progressive house, before redefining the project in 2011. The album Stick By This arrived that same year on the Above & Beyond label and Pete Tong placed it among the albums of the year; BBC Radio 1 supported it with Rob Da Bank, Toddla T, Zane Lowe, and Tong himself. In 2012, Flo Jam (Dogmatik) became the dance single of the year on iTunes and circulated from Disclosure to Calvin Harris.

Fabric, Panorama Bar, and the live show as a hallmark

The DJ circuit took them from Fabric and XOYO to Panorama Bar in Berlin, with a Fabriclive installment, a residency at We Love Sundays at Space in Ibiza, and twelve weeks heading the programming at XOYO. They played at Glastonbury, Pukkelpop, Exit, Melt!, Electric Daisy Carnival, Electric Forest, Movement, and Ultra. In 2013, DJ Mag named them best British producers; in 2016, with the Outer (Polydor) live show, they won the award for best live act at the Best of British. That album, featuring Wiley, Gary Numan, and Solomon Grey, and the track Ingrid Is a Hybrid, also placed them on the Forza Horizon soundtrack. A BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix and a nomination for mix of the year rounded off that period.

17 Steps, JOY, Pressure, and the return with Signals

In July 2014, they founded 17 Steps—a name taken from the seventeen steps of the monomyth—with the Love Taking Over EP. The label has released Nathan Micay, LTJ Bukem, Interplanetary Criminal, Denham Audio, or Shed, in addition to their own catalog. JOY (2021), written in the midst of the pandemic to reconstruct festival euphoria, surpassed six million streams; Eros opened the door to Pressure (2022), a turn toward the UK garage of their formative years. Later came Keep On (Essential New Tune by Pete Tong), cuts for fabric Originals and fabricLIVE, and in 2026 the Tales from the Power Hour EP. On September 25, 2026, they return to Anjunadeep with Signals, their fifth studio album, more reflective, featuring Rromarin, Nadeem Karim, and Pritt. Fifteen years later, they remain a bridge between the London underground and the global dancefloor.
