Ian Asher's house hits like a sharp blow: high-pitched vocals, stuttering cuts, and a bassline that leaves no room for error. He puts it bluntly himself: if the first two seconds don't sound massive, the track isn't worth it. That aesthetic, honed in an Orange County warehouse, is today one of the most recognizable signatures of the new generation of American dance music.

Viral mashups and the Makeba earthquake

Before selling out venues, he made a name for himself on TikTok with mashups that brought together worlds no one had ever put in the same cut. In 2021, his reinterpretation of Rockwell's Somebody's Watching Me became the most used Halloween sound on the platform. The global leap came in 2023 with the official remix of Jain's Makeba: it was the most used sound on Instagram and TikTok in July of that year, surpassed 3 billion views on social media that summer, and exceeded 144 million streams on Spotify. The track won the remix of the year award at the EDMA and Spotify included it among the best dance songs of 2023 on its Mint playlist.

From ITZY to Zouk, Ibiza and Tomorrowland

While still in high school, Swedish producer Peter Swartling invited him to record in Sweden; with the money saved from DJing, he flew to the UK and signed B[OO]M-BOXX for ITZY's Crazy in Love album, which debuted in the top 15 of the Billboard 200 and at number 1 on the independent albums chart. Now with management from Milk & Honey and booking from Spin Artist Agency, he strings together more than a hundred dates a year. He has collaborated with Oliver Heldens on Sérgio Mendes' Mas Que Nada, and with SB19 on Moonlight, a number 1 on iTunes in more than 23 countries. He has also rewritten Desire with Olly Alexander, Runaway (U & I) with Galantis, and Black Out Days with Phantogram; Desire and Black Out Days reached number 8 on the Billboard Dance chart.

On stage, he has gone from DJing at a trampoline park at age thirteen to booths like Zouk in Las Vegas, Ushuaïa in Ibiza, EDC Mexico, Lollapalooza, Tomorrowland, EXIT, MDLBEAST, and the Storm Festival in Canton, in front of more than 30,000 people. In 2024, he launched his own headlining tour and has since sold out venues like Brooklyn Paramount and The Midway in San Francisco. With his label and radio show Just A Feeling, and more than 17 million monthly listeners on Spotify, he sustains a career where live shows and singles feed off each other: the viral hit is no longer the ceiling, but the megaphone for a producer obsessed with making every drop felt in the body.
