Trumpet, tuba and nightclub

Few figures in the Swiss house and techno circuit have turned academic musical training into a dancefloor language as physical as Jimi Jules. Born in Lucerne and artistically based in Zurich, his journey stems from a broad musical education: jazz, wind instruments like the trumpet and tuba, singing, and a multi-instrumentalist sensibility that continues to appear in his productions and sets. His imagery combines conservatory rigor, Caribbean heritage, and a very direct relationship with the club as a space for exchange.

Hive, Berlin and the hit Pushing On

Before establishing himself as an international name, Jules built a reputation in the Zurich scene, especially around Hive, where he polished an expansive way of DJing, with long curves and a taste for vocal nuances. During his studies at the Zurich University of the Arts, he completed a master's degree in music and developed the live project Le Dompteur, while his identity as a DJ began to take shape. The leap came with his connection to Oliver $: first with the EP Earl on Hive Audio and, above all, with Pushing On, released by Defected in 2014. The track crossed from the underground circuit to the charts, reached number 15 in the UK, and definitively opened the door to top-tier European booths, including a residency at Watergate.

An elastic signature on Innervisions

Jimi Jules' work moves between house, techno, deep house, and melodic electronica without being fixed to a single label. His 2016 album Equinox confirmed a producer's writing style with an organic pulse, careful arrangements, and a recognizable use of the voice. Later came releases on labels such as Zukunft Recordings, Watergate Records, Rumpelmusig, Cocoon Recordings, and Innervisions, as well as the mix Watergate 24, which reinforced his profile as a narrative selector. With the album + on Innervisions, Jules took that mix of nocturnal atmosphere, melody, and collaborative experimentation further, with tracks like My City’s On Fire, Burning, Der Aufstand or Too Far.

Permanent movement

Currently, Jimi Jules occupies his own space within the European scene: close enough to the club language to maintain dancefloor pressure, but with a musical writing style broader than that of a functional producer. His sets often rely heavily on his own material and seek collective energy rather than technical exhibition. Recent releases like Human Rights, the collaboration Trippy Yeah with Black Coffee, and Baby Run show an artist still expanding, linked to the Innervisions environment and represented by T S agency, with a regular presence in clubs and festivals in Europe, America, and other international circuits.
