A Speicher with childhood memories

In 2010, the Speicher series by Kompakt released Loreley and Silberpfeil: long-form techno, almost schaffel, signed by a Danish producer whose surname coincides with the beer from Cologne. Kölsch did not come from the Rhine. He had grown up in the Christiania commune in Copenhagen, with German and Irish roots, and arrived at Michael Mayer's label after years of aliases, tracks, and an ear already trained for melody.

Saxophone, tattoos, and the turn towards Kompakt

Before that phase, the same author released Calabria (2003), a house track with synthetic saxophone that earned him the Danish Music Award in 2004 and which, as Enur, reappeared in 2007 with Natasja. In parallel, the Ink and Needle series on Tattoo Rec —vinyls without titles, only tattoos on the cover— circulated through European techno. With Rune RK, he covered the more radio-friendly house circuit. The Kölsch project condensed that experience into its own language: club architecture and autobiographical narrative.

The trilogy of years and the father's archive

The album 1977 (2013) brought together Opa, Der Alte, Goldfisch, All That Matters, and Loreley itself as childhood memories with a kickdrum. 1983 (2015) was conceived as a travel record; 1989 (2017) closed the trilogy. The single Grey became his most massive cut, with tens of millions of streams. This was followed by fabric presents Kölsch (2019), Now Here No Where (2020), the more ambient Isopolis (2021) on his label IPSO, and I Talk To Water (2023), a tribute to his father with home archive recordings. In 2025, he released KINEMA on IPSO —strings, movement, and a modular live show presented as Kölsch and the Machine during the Amsterdam Dance Event— and in 2026 a deluxe edition.

High booths and a live machine

In October 2017, he played at the Eiffel Tower for Cercle, in front of a million-strong audience. He has DJed at fabric, Berghain, and Panorama Bar, at DC-10, and at the In The Dark residency at Hï Ibiza, as well as Tomorrowland, Awakenings, and a residency on BBC Radio 1. IPSO has released collaborations with Michael Mayer, Tiga, and Sasha; there are tracks with Dubfire and CamelPhat, and remixes for Coldplay, London Grammar, or deadmau5. Worldwide booking is managed by Creative Artists Agency. The fedora remains his silhouette, but the center of the project has not changed: melodic techno that tells a life, not just a night.
