The pulse of Utrecht and a taste for elastic bass house define the identity of Locklead, an increasingly prominent figure in the European club circuit. His sound moves between hard, mental cuts, deep textures, and a very physical reading of the dancefloor, with recognizable roots in Dutch house culture and a natural inclination toward funk, soul, and disco.

From Nijverdal to the Utrecht school

Born in Nijverdal, in the province of Overijssel, Wesley Endeman grew up surrounded by Motown, soul, funk, and hip hop before being drawn to the deep electronic music of producers like Gui Boratto and Nathan Fake. That combination eventually found its own space in the Utrecht underground scene, where he began to define a language of deep house, raw groove, and detailed rhythmic construction. In 2014, he won the Triphouse Rotterdam King of the Beat Battle, an early milestone that underscored his ease in creating beats on the fly and opened up an initial phase of releases on labels like Soulfood, Albion, and Boemklatsch.

Up The Stuss, key labels, and shared projects

His subsequent discography consolidated a sharper signature on labels such as Slapfunk, Pleasure Zone, Dungeon Meat, Fuse London, Constant Sound, and Up The Stuss, home to his debut album Square One and later releases like Moon, Synergy, Unison, and Sakura. He has also remixed Michel de Hey for Madhouse, Kerri Chandler's label, expanding his connection to the classic roots of house tradition. In parallel, Across Boundaries reunites him with Chris Stussy in a collaborative project of deep and expansive house, while Phreaks of Visions connects him with Anil Aras through a more direct approach to live acts and SlapFunk culture.

A flexible booth and an expanding schedule

As a selector, Locklead alternates pressure, swing, and elegance: he can move from a stretch of hypnotic minimal house to a silky groove without losing tension. This versatility has taken him from basement raves and beach parties to Slapfunk events at BRET, Amsterdam, and booths in cities like Berlin, London, Paris, and Dublin. His appearances on platforms and formats such as HÖR Berlin, Rinse HQ127, RAW CUTS, and Boiler Room reinforce a phase of international growth in which he continues to expand his repertoire, dates, and collaborations without abandoning the core of his proposal: functional, deep house with plenty of personality.
