The Global Underground compass

Global Underground 003: Prague was not just another compilation: it was a live portrait of Nick Warren in 1997, the second record from a label that had not yet become a myth. From there, he signed seven more mixes—Brazil, Budapest, Amsterdam, Reykjavik, Shanghai, Paris, and Lima—and left a blueprint of atmospheric progressive house, with club percussion and layers that do not rush. Before that world map, he had already been a resident at Cream in Liverpool, a touring DJ for Massive Attack, and a staple at the superclub Vision in Bristol, where in the late eighties he played reggae and indie until house took over the United Kingdom. He also signed the first volume of Back to Mine and, later, installments for Renaissance and Balance.

Way Out West, the other pulse of Bristol

In 1994, he met producer Jody Wisternoff at a record store. They first released music as Sub-Version 3 and Echo, eventually adopting Way Out West upon signing with Deconstruction. The duo explored house, breakbeat, and dancefloor electronica, with Intensify—The Fall, Intensify, Mindcircus—and Don't Look Now, before We Love Machine (2009) on Hope Recordings. In 2017, they reappeared on Anjunadeep with Tuesday Maybe and, a year later, with the more restrained EP Sunday Maybe. In parallel, Warren remixed for names like Lana Del Rey and became the A&R head for Hope, the Bristol label from which he promoted a club catalog and his own tracks like Buenos Aires or In Search of Silver (Bedrock).

The Soundgarden, from radio to label

In 2010, he launched The Soundgarden as a show on Frisky Radio. Since 2015, the brand has been a party, a compilation, and a label for progressive house and melodic house, with special roots in South America—Destino Arena in Mar del Plata, Parque Riviera in Montevideo—and appearances at ADE and Miami Music Week, often alongside Hernán Cattáneo's Sudbeat. The catalog, directed by Warren, has released music by Modd, Luka Sambe, Black 8, Nicolas Rada, and the selector himself.

Turbulence, the solo album

On September 19, 2025, Turbulence arrived, his first solo studio album on The Soundgarden, featuring collaborations with Nicolas Rada, Mercurio, Tripswitch, and Mattias Herrera. He continues to headline the brand in Ibiza and the international circuit—including the b2b with Cattáneo at Loveland Festival 2025—and his worldwide booking is handled by Analog. Nearly four decades later, his set remains recognizable: melody, depth, and electronica that is in no hurry.
