Beginnings in British Techno

Oliver Ho was born in London, England, in 1974. Emerging from the effervescent British electronic scene of the mid-nineties, he began his career by linking himself strongly to the most cerebral and dancefloor-focused Techno. His debut came in 1996 via Blueprint Records, the legendary label founded by James Ruskin and Richard Polson, where he established himself as one of the most prolific producers on the European circuit. His initial style combined the weight of industrial techno with mechanical rhythms, laying the solid foundations for the minimalist and percussive sound that would define much of the electronic music of the time.

Meta Records and Tribal Sound Evolution

In 1997, seeking absolute creative freedom, he founded his own record label, Meta Records. Through this platform, his sound began to mutate towards a much warmer and more organic tribal techno, meticulously designed for the dancefloor but without losing the experimental focus that characterized him. This evolution demonstrated his immense versatility in the studio, moving away from mechanical loops to introduce complex textures and exotic percussion. His ability to reinvent himself kept him firmly at the forefront, releasing acclaimed albums such as Listening To The Voice Inside and The Soft Machine.

The Darkness of Broken English Club

Oliver Ho's inexhaustible talent for artistic metamorphosis reached a higher level with the creation of his project Broken English Club. Under this dark pseudonym, he fully embraces his early influences linked to post-punk, EBM, and industrial music. His releases on cult labels such as Jealous God, Cititrax, and L.I.E.S. Records have completely redefined contemporary techno. Broken English Club stands out for incorporating sinister vocals, sharp drum machines, and an aesthetic deeply rooted in urban decay, achieving masterpieces such as his brutal White Rats album series and the acclaimed Songs Of Love And Decay.

Other Aliases and an Unbreakable Legacy

Throughout his career, he has explored diverse paths under multiple identities. As Raudive, he delved into territories closer to dark-cut house and minimal, releasing on labels such as Klang Elektronik. As Zov Zov, he explored even noisier and more experimental facets. Today, Oliver Ho's legacy stands as that of one of the undisputed sound architects of the United Kingdom. His visceral live performances continue to be in demand at the best underground clubs and festivals in the world, proving that his masterful ability to push the boundaries of sound remains completely intact after decades of an incessant career.
