Six hours to enter the tunnel

In the loop techno nights of Berlin, Rødhåd made a name for himself by building six-hour sets or longer, where the groove advances slowly, with weight and a very precise melancholy. His style—deep, powerful, and somber—moves from dub techno to hypnotic techno and, when the dancefloor calls for it, brushes against house again. The name evokes the redhead and fits a figure now unmistakable in the booth: beard, machine-like pulse, and almost no extra spectacle.

He grew up in Hohenschönhausen, in the east of the city, and remembers the fall of the Wall at age six. As a teenager, he became fond of schranz and, later, Basic Channel and Maurizio. Around 2006, his first residency arrived at the small club Zementgarten, playing dub and techno. Before that, he had organized open-air parties with borrowed equipment in vacant lots on the outskirts. Meanwhile, he worked as a construction draftsman, a job he did not fully leave until 2013.

Dystopian: party, label, and closure

In 2009, he co-founded Dystopian with two Berlin friends, first as a party series and later as a label. The first night—with guests like Ben Klock, Shed, and Sandwell District, and Fritz Lang's Metropolis in the background—established an industrial and futuristic aesthetic. He changed his previous name, Redhead or Der Rote, upon discovering that a Belgian DJ was already using that signature. In 2010, he arrived at Berghain. The label started in 2012 with the EP 1984 and continued with Blindness, Red Rising, Söhne der Erde, or Kinder der Ringwelt. His debut album, Anxious (2017), expanded the range from the dancefloor to ambient. In 2023, Dystopian closed to focus energies on the new project.

WSNWG, the studio in the East

In 2018, he founded WSNWG, named after his studio in East Berlin: a label for jams and four-handed records with Lucy, Alex.Do, Antigone, Rene Wise, Lady Starlight, Fadi Mohem, Ignez, or JakoJako. With Vril, he developed the conceptual series Out of Place Artefacts (2020, 2022, and the 2026 installment A Complex Interplay of Zeros and Ones). In Vere (2022), with JakoJako, delves into more organic textures. The sub-label WSNWG Back to Zero hosts solo work: the ambient LP Mood (2020), Revisited, and Ringwelt (2023). In 2024, fabric presents Rødhåd arrived. He continues to release dancefloor maxis—such as Mauvier with Polygonia—and jams with Speedy J's STOOR environment.

Time Warp, Zollverein, and Fusion

Today, he is a benchmark of contemporary techno, with booking through Triangle Agency. He has closed or headlined Time Warp, Awakenings, Stone Techno at Zollverein, Fusion, or ADE, and maintains a close relationship with Berghain, fabric, or Gashouder. In 2026, he uploaded his set from Fusion's Turmbühne to SoundCloud and continues to present WSNWG material. His position is not that of a pyrotechnic headliner: it is that of a DJ who asks for time, darkness, and a system that leaves room for sadness and drive at the same time.
