The Next Episode and the future bass that became an anthem

The rework of The Next Episode by Dr. Dre, part of the Don't Touch the Classics series, took San Holo out of the SoundCloud circuit and placed him at the center of mid-2010s future bass: over 270 million views on YouTube and a signature sound of bright synthesizers, claps, and nostalgia. Trained in guitar and production at Codarts (Rotterdam), he arrived at that scene after years in bands and a period of ghost production. Disney once threatened litigation over the similarity of his alias to Han Solo; the name remained.

Light, bitbird and the map of major festivals

The EP Cosmos (2014, Heroic Recordings) entered the iTunes Top 100 Electronic chart. Between 2015 and 2016, he linked up with Monstercat, Spinnin' Records, and OWSLA with Victory, IMISSU, Alright alongside Yellow Claw, and We Rise, which surpassed 60 million streams on Spotify and 100 million views on YouTube. The decisive turn was Light (2016), released on his independent label bitbird: it exceeded 100 million streams on Spotify, reached No. 13 on Billboard's Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart, and took him to Coachella, Ultra Miami, and EDC Las Vegas. bitbird also established itself as a home for artists like Taska Black and DROELOE. In 2017, he was nominated for New Artist of the Year at the Electronic Music Awards.

album1: electric guitar and a headline at Red Rocks

When future bass became a template, album1 (2018, bitbird) mixed 808s, electric guitar, analog recordings, and his own vocals. It debuted at No. 7 on Billboard's Dance/Electronic Albums chart, topped electronic iTunes charts in the US and Canada, and won the Edison Pop for Best Dance Album and the IDMA for Best Electronic Album; San Holo was Breakthrough Artist of the Year at the 2019 IDMAs. The world tour—about 75 dates and 100,000 tickets in North America alone, with The Shrine, Terminal 5, and a headline show at Red Rocks Amphitheatre—established his hybrid format of live production, vocals, and guitar. In parallel, he reactivated Casilofi, his first project, with the EP Create, Create, Create.

Stay vibrant and the leap to Wholesome Riddim

The stay vibrant community and the ↑% sign turned his scene into an emotional code. In 2020, he released the Stay Vibrant collection; later came bb u ok? (2021, bitbird / Counter Records), featuring guests like Rivers Cuomo (Weezer) and American Football, and Existential Dance Music (2023). Since 2024, he has been developing Wholesome Riddim, a bridge between the weight of bass and his melody. On June 5, 2026, he released his fourth album, TRUE LOVE IN A MADE UP WORLD (bitbird / Shine Light Records), with collaborations from LSDREAM, Big Gigantic, Juelz, and Former Hero, and a North American tour including the Hollywood Palladium and Echostage, in addition to a set at EDC Las Vegas 2026.
