With drops that function like sound engineering puzzles and a visual imagery dominated by the Cyclops eye, Subtronics has established himself as one of the central figures of contemporary American dubstep. His language combines warped bass, technical rhythmic cuts, abrupt energy shifts, and a mixing style that turns every set into a sequence of tension, impact, and reconstruction. The connection to Philadelphia, his hometown, remains present in a career that began around drums, alternative rock, and the discovery of dubstep during his adolescence.

From riddim mixtapes to the Cyclops ecosystem

In the mid-2010s, Jesse Kardon began to emerge strongly in the bass circuit thanks to EPs and collaborations that circulated among labels like SubCarbon Records, Disciple Round Table, Never Say Die Black Label, Kannibalen Records, and Cyclops Recordings. Works like Depth Perception, Thermal Expansion, Wook Laser, Cyclops Army, Scream Saver, and String Theory helped define a recognizable sound: aggressive bass, microscopic sound design, and a playful yet forceful aesthetic. In parallel, the Now That’s What I Call Riddim mix series expanded his community and gave an emotional name to the Cyclops Army, an active fan base within dubstep culture.

The leap from Griztronics to the big stages

The collaboration Griztronics with GRiZ, released in 2019, marked a turning point by crossing the bass scene with TikTok virality and dance music charts. Since then, Subtronics has chained remixes, collaborations, and increasingly large-scale tours, with appearances at Red Rocks, Electric Daisy Carnival Las Vegas, Ultra Music Festival, Tacoma Dome, Coachella, and the Sphere in Las Vegas, as well as his own events like Cyclops Cove. His live reputation is built on fast mixing, double and triple drops, unreleased material, and a high-pressure stage production for large sound systems.

Conceptual albums, science fiction, and melodic expansion

With FRACTALS in 2022, Subtronics took his sound to album format and opened a more ambitious stage, continued that same year by ANTIFRACTALS, a project of remixes and VIP versions. TESSERACT, released in 2024, expanded the framework toward science fiction electronica, with collaborations such as Excision, REZZ, Grabbitz, HOL!, and Jem Cooke. In 2025, Fibonacci reinforced that conceptual path in two chapters, Oblivion and Infinity, with a more emotional palette without abandoning the pressure of festival dubstep. In 2026, Eyes Cut Deeper with Inéz opened another phase of massive live shows. Now installed among global headliners, he maintains a recognizable identity: technical precision, physical excess, and a sonic imagination that turns bass into narrative.
