Tribal pulse from Amsterdam

The percussive electricity that has taken Sunnery James from the Dutch scene to major international stages is best understood through his partnership with Ryan Marciano. Their language in the booth combines muscular house, Latin groove, tribal percussion, and a tension close to techno, a mix that turned their sets into a recognizable proposition within the European EDM and house circuit. Born in Amsterdam and of Surinamese descent, he developed his public career almost always alongside Ryan de Lange, forming one of the most exportable DJ and production duos from the Netherlands.

The chemistry that became a brand

The artistic bond with Ryan Marciano began after meeting in 2006, when both were working in a clothing store. Their musical affinity soon moved to the studio and the booth: first with club releases like Pina and Lift U Up, and later with a series of productions and remixes that placed them on the radar of labels like Size Records, Spinnin Records, Musical Freedom, and Armada Music. Tracks like Lethal Industry, Markuzza, Triton, Salute, or S.O.T.U., alongside Nicky Romero and Fast Eddie, solidified their profile as a duo focused on large dance floors, with direct arrangements, hard-hitting drops, and a very physical reading of the crowd.

Sexy By Nature and the SONO ecosystem

Beyond the singles, Sunnery James has articulated much of his identity around Sexy By Nature, a radio show and event brand that projects his vision of dance music: hedonistic, rhythmic, and with a festival vocation. That universe expanded in 2017 with SONO Music, their own label integrated into the Armada Music family, used both for their repertoire and to promote like-minded artists. From there, they have released material in which Afro, Latin, and tech-house roots gain weight without abandoning the house pulse that defines their sound.

Mainstages, Amazone Project, and recent activity

Their presence at festivals such as Tomorrowland, Ultra Music Festival, EDC Las Vegas, Mysteryland, Amsterdam Music Festival, and Creamfields has reinforced a reputation based on stage energy, fast transitions, and percussion as a narrative axis. The album Fundamentals, released in 2022, gathered much of that aesthetic in long-play format. In recent years, the project has maintained activity with releases on SONO Music and Armada, remixes oriented towards Afro house and Tech house, and the relaunch of Amazone Project, a concept with its own events and presence at major gatherings. Within this stage, Sunnery James maintains a solid position as a selector and producer associated with an expansive, physical, and global house.
