Long sets by the Tagus

At Lux Frágil, on the banks of the Tagus, there is a way of understanding the night that is recognizable from the very first cross-fade: hours on the dancefloor, shifts in mood, and no rush to seem current. Tiago has held a residency there since the club opened in 1998. There, he has sustained nights like Trust! and, later, A Minha Casa Ocupa, sets that can span almost the entire early morning and have turned his name into a benchmark of Portuguese clubbing. He mixes house, techno, disco, and leftfield with a collector's ear: every session is different, and the vinyl carries as much weight as the intuition of someone who came to DJing from live music.

Drums, bands, and the north he left behind

He grew up listening to records at home, and his older brother introduced him to the drums. By age ten, he already had a band; by thirteen, his first concert. At seventeen, he moved to Lisbon from the north of the country and made the professional leap to the DJ booth, just as Portugal began to fill small house and techno clubs. In the capital, he played in Pop Dell'Arte, Loosers, and Gala Drop, and also worked in sound engineering for theater and film. That double life—percussion, live performance, DJ booth—explains the physical nature of his sessions: rhythm, duration, and atmosphere over slogans.

DFA, Interzona, and the circuit between New York and Tokyo

As a producer, he has released on labels such as DFA—the Jungle Dogs remix for Secret Circuit, after meeting James Murphy in New York—, Leng Records (The Source, with a remix by Mudd), Italians Do It Better alongside DJ Kaos as T&K, Rong Music, ESP Institute, Public Possession, Jolly Jams (Soul Jam), and Ene Records. In 2013, he founded Interzona 13 after a robbery left him without a studio: a turntable, a computer, and a bit of percussion to sample records. Previously, he had launched Ruby Red, which leaned closer to jazz. He has also signed as TNT Subhead, I-Boat Captain, or Luz Retina, has been a guest on Beats in Space, and has toured with a special affinity for the United States and Japan, in addition to appearances at events like Love International.

Scam Dust and the return to the machines

After seven years without producing or listening to music, he returned with two records in 2025 for the New York label TRNWRK and with Luz Retina Edits. In 2026, together with Shcuro, he presented the duo Scam Dust and the EP Gastric Pulse on Paraíso: saturated acid and industrial techno conceived between Parede and Carcavelos. He remains, for many colleagues, the DJ's DJ of Lisbon: a central figure who prefers the long set to the short formula and who keeps the club as his home.
