Biography of Tokyo Machine
Zigzag mask and console bass
A single glance at the round glasses, platinum wig, and black zigzag-toothed mask is enough to recognize Tokyo Machine in a DJ booth. His music clashes brutal basslines with 8-bit melodies and nostalgic synthesizers: an arcade aesthetic that has turned anonymity into a brand. The producer does not show his face, but his masked figure is one of the most identifiable in bass house and video game-rooted EDM. Support from Tiësto, Martin Garrix, David Guetta, Dillon Francis, Afrojack, Slushii, and Herobust helped take that digital label sound to festivals all over the world.
From PARTY to the Rocket League leagues
The leap to Monstercat came on July 22, 2016, with PARTY, and that same year he followed up with OKAY, FIGHT, and PIXEL. In 2017, ROCK IT opened the Rocket League x Monstercat joint volume and, a few weeks later, he made his live debut at EDC Las Vegas. The machine settled into the bass circuit with appearances at Tomorrowland, Beyond Wonderland, Bangkok of Dreams, Rampage, and ADE, and with dates alongside Slushii, Modestep, Virtual Riot, and Delta Heavy; in Los Angeles, he sold out Avalon Hollywood. In Tokyo, he performed at Womb. PLAY (2019) became his most viral track, with presence in Beat Saber, Roblox, and SMITE. HYPE played in Just Shapes & Beats; EPIC, ROCK IT, PLAY, and RAD jumped to Beat Saber. He signed the official Gradius remix for Konami, remixes of Undertale, KANA-BOON, and LiSA for Sony, and collaborations with Pegboard Nerds (MOSHI), Weird Genius and Lights (Last Summer), or Slushii (PEW PEW).
CHOMPO, the reboot, and the voice of the machine
In 2023, he launched the CHOMPO label, with the eponymous dinosaur as a mascot, and Monstercat released a retrospective vinyl. On May 30, 2025, the EP FACTORY RESET arrived on Uncaged: five tracks of dubstep, color bass, and more aggressive sound design, conceived as a live set. It coincided with the reveal of his real voice after years of silence on stage and with the CHOMPO Tour, his own tour through North America and Asia with sold-out venues, including Shanghai. In 2026, he kept the pulse with JELLY alongside Snail's House and The First Time alongside Virtual Riot. The Toki-crew has taken him beyond 300 million streams, an international gold record, and syncs with Rocket League, PlayStation, Meta, Red Bull, F1, or Fortnite. Today he releases between Monstercat, NCS, and CHOMPO, hosts a radio show on Insomniac Radio, and continues to tour with the same mask: hard bass, pixelated nostalgia, and a visual universe that is already a trademark.
