From banana plantation to open-air dance floor

The stone terraces of an old banana plantation continue to draw the relief when, at dusk, the Championship stops being a golf course and becomes an open air. Golf Costa Adeje, inaugurated on October 3, 1998, in Adeje, is a physical venue of 27 holes: by day, a golf club; on special dates, one of the great electronic music stages in the south of Tenerife, with the Atlantic and the island of La Gomera in the background.

Gancedo's layout

José Gancedo designed the Championship Course (18 holes, par 72) adapting it to the terrain, not the other way around. He preserved stone walls of the banana plantation, wide fairways, and white sand bunkers; next to it, Los Lagos provides 9 holes, par 33, and six lakes. The complex adds a 45,000 m² driving range on three levels, academy, Pro Shop, changing rooms, parking, and a colonial-style Clubhouse with a restaurant, bar, and terraces open to the public every day of the year. That scale—and a mild climate all year round—is what allows a festival to be set up on the same venue without it ceasing to function as a course.

From the Spanish Open to Carl Cox

In 2003 the Championship hosted the Spanish Open, with Severiano Ballesteros, Miguel Ángel Jiménez, and Sergio García. Later came three editions of the European Ladies Open (2005, 2008, and 2009) and, in 2021, the Tenerife Open and the Canary Islands Championship of the European Tour. The green was also used as a venue for large concerts: in 2008, nearly 20,000 people saw Elton John. The electronic chapter is consolidated when elrow plants its immersive party here in 2019—after debuting the previous year at Magma—and when La Misa is born in 2022 with Carl Cox. The producer is Farra World; the physical venue, Golf Costa Adeje.

Nine hours of sun, dance floor, and setup

There is no nightclub here with closing at 6:00 AM. The usual clubbing format is an open-air day from 3:00 PM to 12:00 AM, with themed stages—Rowsmic Carnival and Nowmads at elrow; the All Black or All White ritual of La Misa—and a dance floor that looks out over the landscape. In 2026 the venue enters the calendar of Sunblast (August 8, announced with seven stages) and elrow XXL (October 10). In between, the club opens every day from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM: golf is played, people eat on the terrace, and, when it's time, the green is dismantled so that the beat enters again.
