Sharp grooves without nostalgia

Alarico's techno is recognizable by a very specific physical pressure: fast rhythms, tense percussion patterns, and a sense of groove that looks to the nineties without turning them into a retro exercise. His music works with raw tools, functional loops, and a dry energy, but also with a precision that avoids ornamental excess. This mix of speed, economy, and nerve has made his name a regular reference within the new generation of dance-oriented European techno.

The Katana identity

Alarico Zucchi started moving through clubs as a DJ in 2015, while learning music production and refining his own language after passing through different techno subgenres. The Alarico project took shape in 2019 as a more personal aesthetic statement, linked to closed rhythmic structures, firm basslines, and a sensibility marked by hip hop and Japanese culture. His recording debut arrived in 2020 on Joton's label, Newrhythmic Records, and shortly after he launched Katana Records, a vinyl imprint from which he showed a more mental, direct, and introverted side of his idea of techno.

Labels pushing the current scene

Starting in 2021, his catalog grew rapidly, connecting releases on OOM Records, Hayes, Neighbourhood, Mutual Rytm, Klockworks, Vault Records, Key Vinyl, and Primal Instinct. EPs like Boya, Drops Of You, Klockworks 38, or Carnal Fever EP reinforced his profile as a producer of highly recognizable dancefloor tools: cutting loops, organic percussion, relentlessly advancing basslines, and a tension sustained by layers. In 2025, he released Sonora on Primal Instinct, a work built from material developed over two years, and Sweaty Techniques on Key Vinyl, consolidating a broader phase without abandoning his rhythmic core.

Primal Instinct, Funk Assault, and the booth as a mechanism

Together with Chlär, Alarico forms Funk Assault, a duo associated with Primal Instinct and a vision of techno where tribal groove, digital harshness, and advanced sound design coexist. This environment has reinforced his role not only as a producer but also as a promoter of a shared aesthetic that understands the dancefloor as a system of repetition, friction, and continuous movement. In the booth, his sessions usually rely on fast mixing, meticulous EQ work, and a high-voltage narrative that keeps the body in tension. He has passed through platforms and spaces such as Boiler Room, HÖR, Awakenings, Stone Techno, RSO.BERLIN, Vault Sessions, and RADION, in addition to maintaining a prominent link with the European club circuit. His current position combines the discipline of a producer, the power of a DJ, and an idea of techno that remains physical, functional, and deeply rhythmic.
