Tijs Michiel Verwest, born on January 17, 1969, in Breda, Netherlands, is a living legend of electronic music, known artistically as Tiësto. From a very young age, he showed an innate interest in music, beginning his professional career at 14. Between 1985 and 1994, he consolidated his technique as a resident DJ in various Dutch clubs, highlighting his time at The Spock, where he perfected his style by mixing New Beat and Acid House. In the late 90s, his meeting with Arny Bink led to the founding of Black Hole Recordings, a fundamental record label for the Trance scene. During these years, he formed the duo Gouryella with Ferry Corsten and Kamaya Painters with Benno de Goeij. His Magik compilation series and the legendary In Search of Sunrise mix catapulted him to international fame, establishing the "Tiësto sound" characterized by epic melodies. His remix of "Silence" by Delerium in 2000 was the turning point that introduced him to the mass public, becoming a timeless anthem.

The release of his debut album In My Memory in 2001 marked the beginning of a golden era. With hits like "Flight 643" and "Lethal Industry", Tiësto demonstrated his ability to create instrumental masterpieces. He was voted the World's Number 1 DJ by DJ Mag magazine for three consecutive years (2002-2004), an unprecedented milestone. In 2003, he made history by being the first DJ to perform a solo concert in a stadium, filling the GelreDome in Arnhem with 25,000 people at Tiësto in Concert. His status as a global icon was solidified in 2004, when he performed at the opening ceremony of the Athens Olympic Games, playing before a television audience of billions. That year he released Just Be, including the hit "Traffic", which reached number one on the Dutch charts. In recognition of his cultural contribution, he was appointed Officer of the Order of Orange-Nassau in 2004. His album Elements of Life (2007) continued his success, fusing Trance with rock and classical music.

Demonstrating exceptional artistic versatility, Tiësto has known how to reinvent himself. With Kaleidoscope (2009), he explored sounds oriented towards Electro House and Pop. He founded his Club Life show and the Musical Freedom label, releasing global hits. The 2010s saw him embrace "Big Room" EDM, with the album A Town Called Paradise (2014) and "Red Lights". In 2015, he won a Grammy for his remix of "All of Me". Far from stagnating, he continued to dominate the charts with Deep House anthems like "The Business" (2020), accumulating billions of streams. His ability to identify trends keeps him at the top, being a mentor to new generations and a central figure at festivals like Tomorrowland.
