The long groove of the Madrid night

The Madrid club scene recognizes Álvaro Medina as a selector of long grooves, defined basslines, and a dancefloor reading that does not chase trends. He was born in Alicante in 1987 and became an artist in the capital, first as a sound technician and later behind the booth. Before DJing, between 2005 and 2009, he trained as a raver in Ibiza: Circoloco at DC10 and Cocoon at Amnesia left him with a sense of community that still runs through his sets. The hip hop, funk, and R&B of the eighties, nineties, and two-thousands coexist in his ear with Chicago house and the minimal of Luciano, Ricardo Villalobos, Richie Hawtin, Steve Bug, or Cajmere.

Replay Sunset and the craft of the booth

Almost ten years as a resident of Replay Sunset Parties placed him in one of the most iconic parties in Madrid's electronic scene. There, he shared the booth with Loco Dice, tINI, Apollonia, Mathew Jonson, Seth Troxler, and Nicolas Lutz, and learned the daily work of a DJ and promoter. As a guest, he has played at Amnesia, fabric in London, Fabrik in Madrid, Les Enfants in Barcelona, Bret in Amsterdam, Sunwaves, and Días de Campo. In the studio, he has released on labels such as Djebali, Moan, Robsoul, Get Physical, Sanity, and Vatos Locos. From that trajectory came Uptown for Get Physical, the Djebali vinyl with Flying Fish and Red Saturday, Funky Kush on Robsoul, and, in 2026, Remember That EP, as well as collaborations and remixes within the minimal and house circuit.

Jazzy Club, Matahari, and a network of dancefloors

With Jordi Castell and Maryo, he founded Jazzy Club at Cadavra Club, a Saturday-to-Saturday event with Shonky, Tania Vulcano, Nu Zau, Djebali, Javier Carballo, or Pau Pérez. The jump to Bassmnt, from a capacity of about 200 to about 1,000, and the first night with Raresh and tINI gave visibility to a style that barely occupied large venues in Madrid. Today, the brand resides at The Bassement and has expanded to London, Lima, Tokyo, Puerto Escondido, Medellín, Zanzibar, Rabat, Barcelona, and Ibiza, with an annual charity event in Comuna 13 in Medellín. In 2024, he debuted at Sunwaves Spain, in Almería, and Matahari Records, the label he promotes with Enzo Leep, sold out vinyl pressings. In 2026, he joined Interwave, debuted at Womb in Tokyo, played B2B with Tania Vulcano in Barcelona, and his appearance at the Pyramid Terrace at Amnesia alongside Ricardo Villalobos, Raresh, and Chris Stussy was announced. He is preparing vinyl for Días de Campo, new releases for Matahari, and the launch of Jazzy Club Records for the fifth anniversary in 2027.
