An emotional tension within high-impact techno

BIIA's music is recognized by a form of tension that combines physical punch, dark melody, and a highly intuitive reading of the dancefloor. Her language starts from techno and opens up towards acid, electro, breakbeat, and harder structures, with hard-hitting kicks, hypnotic loops, trippy elements, and her own vocals treated as expressive material. This blend has allowed her to build high-energy sessions without losing an emotional and narrative dimension, a quality that appears both in her sets and her productions.

From Portuguese clubs to an international agenda

Raised in northern Portugal, with clear ties to Marco de Canaveses and the Porto scene, her relationship with electronic music began in her teens, when she spent summers at a relative's DJ and production shop. Before dedicating herself fully to music, she studied marketing and business management, and her first professional steps took place in Portuguese clubs and bars. That local foundation was key to consolidating a booth technique marked by rhythm control, progression, and audience response.

Her international expansion accelerated with performances at benchmark festivals, clubs, and platforms. Her journey includes stages and brands such as Awakenings, EXIT Festival, Kappa FuturFestival, Neopop, EDC, Tomorrowland, Monegros, Sziget, HÖR Berlin, and Boiler Room. Her set for Boiler Room x Teletech Festival 2024 became one of her most visible appearances, reinforcing her position within the new wave of Portuguese techno artists with global reach.

Production, own voice, and community

As a producer, BIIA has transferred that direct and emotional dancefloor identity to the studio. Her 2023 debut EP, Letters From Hell, marked a turning point with tracks like Don’t Get Lost In Heaven, EROS N AGAPE, and cuts with dark, industrial, and melodic atmospheres. She later expanded her catalog with tracks like Motorola Rides, Daisy Chain, Angelo, Romantic Exorcism, and the 2025 EP Human Skin, a work linked to ideas of contact, body, emotional union, and creative duality.

In addition to performing and releasing music, she has launched Distonia, a Lisbon-based event series conceived as a creative space for DJs, photographers, designers, and other emerging profiles. This community dimension fits with a career that avoids being locked into a single label: BIIA works with techno as a tool for liberation, intensity, and physical connection, with an aesthetic that is increasingly recognizable on the international circuit.
