The Bologna heritage and the Detroit school

Mattia Trani is an Italian DJ, producer, live performer, and label owner from Bologna. He grew up in a musical family shaped by his father, Marco Trani, an Italian DJ linked to funk, disco, and house. Since he was a child, he studied piano and later directed his energy toward DJing and electronic production. By age 16, he was already mixing and frequenting club culture, with Cocoricò being one of the spaces that opened his eyes to more intense and physical techno.

Machines, rave, and futuristic precision

His sound combines the memory of Detroit techno with a contemporary reading of the dancefloor: warehouse kicks, acid lines, analog synthesis, rave rhythms, and a growing presence of drum and bass and jungle influences. Mattia Trani is not limited to the classic DJ format; an important part of his identity lies in live hardware, where machines, sequencers, and improvisation reinforce a fast, futuristic, and high-impact aesthetic. His language seeks an idea of direct, technical, and emotional techno, with constant tension and a strong bodily dimension.

Pushmaster Discs and international connection

In 2012, he founded Pushmaster Discs, a platform from which he developed his own vision of raw and independent techno. The label allowed him to connect with figures like Ben Sims, Juan Atkins, Ken Ishii, and DJ Stingray, and placed his work in dialogue with legends from Detroit and the European scene. In 2014, he became the first Italian artist invited to produce an official episode for Underground Resistance radio, a milestone that reinforced his relationship with the Motor City tradition. His catalog includes works such as The Hi-Tech Mission, SCENERY, SCENERY THE REMIXES, Quasistar, Dreampunk, Extra Hacking, and Breakcore Nexus LP.

Hard techno, Galactica, and new identities

In recent years, he has expanded his reach within international hard techno with releases on Trip Recordings, Monnom Black, Galactica Music, and his own label. His collaboration Merit with T78 reached number 1 on the Beatport Top 100 Hard Techno chart, reinforcing a phase oriented toward large stages, high speed, and rave energy. He also performs under the aliases 051 Destroyer and Zeshin, the latter linked to the crossover between psytrance, hard techno, and Japanese video game imagery. As a resident of Galactica Festival and Cocoricò, and with international booking through Goldroom Agency, Mattia Trani occupies a prominent position within current Italian techno, connecting legacy, machines, and global club culture.
