Dirty jump-up born between raves and skateparks

The most brazen drum and bass from Manchester has an Algerian accent and the memory of beat-up CDJs. Bou was formed between the Projekts skatepark, the chaotic Bloc2Bloc streams, and an illegal rave in the Rivington woods: that's where he got hooked on jump-up, opened FL Studio at sixteen, and played his first broadcast set in 2014. A year later, he released Movements with Dutta on Clawhammer Recordz. The 2017 track Poison pushed him onto the circuit when Noisia played it on radio and in clubs: a foghorn and dirty bass anthem that crossed jump-up, rolling, and even the neurofunk audience.

Gossip, Veteran and the 2020 awards

At the 2020 Drum and Bass Awards, he took home four trophies: Best Producer, Best Breakthrough Producer, Best Breakthrough DJ, and Best Track for Veteran. Before that, he had co-run the Diamond Audio label with Dutta; in 2021 he launched Gossip, a home for his club bombs and like-minded names, debuting with Cous Cous alongside Inja. Veteran VIP with Trigga gave him his first global number one on Beatport, and the label followed up with more peaks on the platform. His list of collaborations—Serum, High Contrast, Alix Perez, Mefjus, Current Value, Hedex—coexists with USB dub packs and the charity compilation DNB 4 PEACE, over sixty tracks that raised more than 30,000 pounds for Doctors Without Borders in Palestine.

Island, the number five and the global booth

Closer, with Mancunian vocalist Slay and a sample of Children by Robert Miles, was released on Island Records in 2023 and reached number 24 on the UK Singles Chart. That summer, Baddadan with Chase & Status, Flowdan, Irah, Trigga, and Takura—premiered at a DnB Allstars 360°—climbed to number 5: his first British top 10. Streetside with Bru-C had reached 84 and earned a BPI gold record; Deep with Example opened another radio door. In 2025, Raving In The Studio with Aitch reached 22 and the B-Sides Mixtape topped the Official Dance Albums Chart. He has signed the Essential Mix for BBC Radio 1 in 2022 and a Halloween Residency in 2025, and has headlined Parklife, Creamfields, The Warehouse Project, Reading and Leeds, and Ultra Miami, with tours in New Zealand and Australia. He remains anchored in Manchester: jump-up, rollers, and crossover, without ever letting go of the rave.
