The new wave of liquid on Shogun Audio

In British drum and bass over the last decade, Bryson has been the half that has pushed the genre toward a more organic and emotional palette. He grew up in a rural town in West Yorkshire, with classical training in piano and drums, and discovered drum and bass at home: his father and older brother were already spinning Roni Size, Commix, or High Contrast. The contrast with Jack Higgins, raised in East London, is the engine of Pola & Bryson: countryside versus city, acoustic warmth versus digital precision.

Soulvent, Hospital, and the leap to Shogun

They met in 2012 and spent months writing together in Yorkshire before establishing the project in London. In 2014, the first records arrived and the label Soulvent Records; the EP The Music (2015) defined their sound, and a solo track, Moon Drifter, was credited solely to Bryson. The album This Time Last Year (2016) put them on the map and earned them nominations at the Drum&BassArena Awards for Best Newcomer Producers, with Soulvent for Best New Label. An Etherwood bootleg opened the door to Hospital Records. In 2017, they signed exclusively with Shogun Audio. Lost In Thought was nominated for Best Album; Beneath The Surface (2021), a concept album written as a journey through an imaginary landscape, led Sub Focus to point to them as part of the new liquid wave. In parallel, Bryson has released music as Bryzone and Abacus and is part of the trio Data 3.

From Let It Roll to the FABRICLIVE mix

Phoneline, featuring Emily Makis, became an anthem of the scene in 2023. Then came Waiting with Sub Focus, Too Shy with IYAMAH, tracks with Gardna and Zitah, an EP with DJ Marky, and remixes for Moby, Wilkinson, Camo & Krooked, David Guetta, High Contrast, and venbee. On May 16, 2025, they released Overgrown, their fourth album on Shogun, which is more euphoric and dancefloor-oriented, and the FABRICLIVE presents Pola & Bryson mix for fabric. That summer, they played the main stage at Let It Roll at sunset, Boomtown, Darkshire, and a sold-out tour of Australia and New Zealand, with a London presentation at Village Underground. International booking is managed by Primary Talent International. In 2026, they continue releasing on Shogun, with tracks like Where Did You Go alongside DRIIA.
