CamelPhat is a successful British electronic music duo formed by David Whelan and Michael Pasquale Di Scala. Both artists, originally from Liverpool, England, met in the early 2000s at the legendary record store 3 Beat Records. With a notable background in the local scene, they decided in 2004 to combine their talents in the studio. During those early years, they began producing under various aliases such as The Bassline Hustlers, Pawn Shop, and Whelan & Di Scala. In this phase of intense collaboration, they forged their roots in house music, building a solid reputation and even becoming co-owners of Mansion, a popular local nightclub.

The Birth of CamelPhat

In 2010, they officially adopted the name CamelPhat, releasing their first tracks on their own label, Vice Records. In their early days under this identity, the duo chose to perform live wearing wrestling masks, a curious strategy designed to maintain anonymity and ensure that the audience's attention was focused exclusively on their music. The definitive turning point on an international level came in 2017 with the release of "Cola", a masterful collaboration with singer Elderbrook released by the label Defected Records. This addictive track swept through clubs around the world, reaching number one on the Billboard Dance Club Songs chart in the United States and receiving a historic Grammy nomination.

Studio Albums and Evolution

Following the massive impact of "Cola", CamelPhat solidified their position at the top by crafting indisputable anthems such as "Panic Room" with Au/Ra, "Breathe" with Cristoph, and "Be Someone" with Jake Bugg. Their impeccable career led them to release their acclaimed debut album in 2020, "Dark Matter", an extensive work that explored melodic and dark textures, including collaborations with artists of the stature of Noel Gallagher. In 2023, they consolidated their definitive foray into Melodic Techno and Progressive House with their second studio album, "Spiritual Milk", released under their newly founded record label, When Stars Align.

CamelPhat is currently one of the highest-selling names in the history of the Beatport platform. Their overwhelming success has made them indispensable residents of the Ibiza summers, conquering massive clubs like Hï Ibiza and subsequently moving their acclaimed weekly residency to the legendary Pacha Ibiza venue. Globally, the duo regularly headlines stages at major festivals such as Tomorrowland, Creamfields, Coachella, and the Ultra Music Festival, establishing themselves as undisputed pillars of cutting-edge electronic music.
