An NBA legend sneaks into TomorrowWorld

In 2014, sneaking into TomorrowWorld wasn't a publicity stunt: it was a 7-foot-1 center who wanted to see Steve Aoki and Skrillex up close. That intrusion at the American festival left him with a new obsession for electronic dance music. A year later, DJ DIESEL was no longer watching the booth from the crowd: he was occupying one himself, mixing trap, hip hop, and EDM in front of tens of thousands of people.

The passion went back a long way. At fourteen, after seeing Public Enemy live, he mowed lawns and walked dogs until he saved up 200 dollars to buy some turntables at a second-hand shop. In 1993, the album Shaq Diesel was certified platinum by the RIAA: a parallel rap career that, decades later, reappears in drops, acapellas, and locker-room attitude.

Bass, pits, and the jump to Monstercat

Since then, he has turned dubstep and bass music into his territory. In 2019, he signed BANG with NGHTMRE and Lil Jon on Gud Vibrations. On Dim Mak, pieces arrived with Riot Ten and, later, Welcome to the Playhouse alongside Steve Aoki. In 2022, BACKBREAKER with FREAKY placed him on Subsidia, Excision's label. The heavyweight leap came on June 7, 2023, with BANG YOUR HEAD, alongside Hairitage, the first single from Gorilla Warfare on Monstercat Uncaged, released on August 18. The LP brings together collaborations with Jessica Audiffred, Crankdat, Soltan, and Kompany. In March 2024, he released NEXT LVL with LEVEL UP; in July 2025, he continued the offensive with the album M.D.E. and, in 2026, the single STFU alongside T-Pain, San Holo, and NGHTMRE.

Tomorrowland, EDC, and a home at the Wynn

On October 23, 2021, he debuted at the bassPOD at EDC Las Vegas. He has occupied stages at Lost Lands, Tomorrowland, Lollapalooza, Electric Zoo, Forbidden Kingdom, and Beyond Wonderland. In March 2018, he inaugurated Shaq's Fun House, a festival-carnival with guests like Diplo, Aoki, A-Trak, and Carnage, and later he launched the Shaq's Bass All Stars tour. In Las Vegas, he maintains a residency at the Wynn, between XS Nightclub and Encore Beach Club: a club and festival circuit that he himself claims, with 7-foot-1 irony, as that of the biggest DJ in the world.
