The volcanic pulse of electronic emotion

The imagery of Mathame is recognized by a blend of cinematic tension, expansive melody, and a futuristic aesthetic that turns melodic techno into a visual narrative. The Italian brother duo shaped the project in the isolation of the slopes of Etna, in Sicily, while helping their family manage a small lodging. That environment of harsh winters, silence, and the constant presence of the volcano ended up filtering into music of slow ascent, contained drama, and an immersive vocation.

From family radio to the language of Afterlife

Amedeo and Matteo Giovanelli's relationship with sound comes from before the dancefloor. They grew up among records, tapes, and the memory of the pirate radio station their parents kept in Italy. Matteo started as a local hip hop DJ before studying film and working as a director, while Amedeo went through classical violin training and later turned to electronic production. That combination of club culture, audiovisual narrative, and conservatory sensibility explains the weight of soundtracks, science fiction, and emotional climaxes in their catalog.

Their international takeoff came when they connected with the universe of Tale Of Us and Afterlife, a label that boosted essential pieces like Nothing Around Us, Skywalking, For Every Forever, and Farewell. In those years, Mathame consolidated a recognizable signature: sober basslines, vocals treated as ghostly presences, and melodies capable of working both at a large festival and in a dark club.

NEO, MEMO, and the dancefloor as a screen

In 2023 they released MEMO on Astralwerks, an album conceived as an emotional and narrative diary that expanded their language beyond the club single. From that work, they developed the NEO universe, a creative architecture that unites music, design, artificial intelligence, anime, and audiovisual spectacle. Their technological research was also reflected in Old Neural Mixtape Vol.1, a project based on AI to rethink mixing in real time.

Mathame's stage dimension has grown in parallel to their tours through high-impact spaces: Cercle at the Reforma 180 heliport in Mexico City, Tomorrowland, Coachella, Hï Ibiza, Amnesia Ibiza, Brunch Electronik, and EDC Las Vegas. In their recent stage, they have reinforced the All Night Long format with a no-phones policy, seeking a more concentrated and physical experience, and have opened a residency in Las Vegas with Zouk Nightclub and Ayu Dayclub. Their current position is that of a global EmoTech project that crosses melodic techno, staging, and futuristic narrative.
