The Beginnings and His Inspiration

Tino Piontek, born on February 12, 1980, in Dresden, is the creative talent globally known as Purple Disco Machine. Growing up in East Germany before the fall of the Berlin Wall, Tino developed a deep love for the funk sound, soul, and, above all, disco music. His own stage name pays a double tribute to two of his greatest musical idols: the iconic legend Prince (for his famous album and film Purple Rain) and the pioneers of the Latin-disco sound, Miami Sound Machine.

Rise in the International Scene

Purple Disco Machine's career took off meteorically around 2013 with the release of the dance anthem My House, which quickly conquered underground stages and reached the top of the Beatport charts. This early success defined his distinctive style: a contagious and bright mix of House music, Nu Disco, and Italo Disco textures, supported by powerful basslines and nostalgic vocals. Throughout the decade, his position was consolidated thanks to a huge number of highly acclaimed official remixes for heavyweights of the pop and electronic industry, from Dua Lipa or Lady Gaga, to Sir Elton John.

Consolidation, Albums, and Global Recognition

In 2017, Tino released his long-awaited debut album, titled Soulmatic, which included the huge and award-winning hit Devil in Me. It was followed in 2021 by his magnum opus Exotica, an album that broke boundaries driven by massive singles like Hypnotized and Fireworks, completely dominating the European radio and streaming circuit. The definitive pinnacle of his brilliant remixing career arrived in 2023, when Purple Disco Machine won his first and well-deserved Grammy Award in the Best Remixed Recording category for his spectacular extended version of Lizzo's track About Damn Time.

Outside the studio, Tino has indisputably crowned himself as one of the most in-demand artists and disc jockeys today, with an unmistakable and elegant style, always characterized by his striking tropical shirts. He is a regular and essential figure as a headliner at global macro festivals of the magnitude of Tomorrowland, Coachella, or Lollapalooza, and maintains coveted residencies in paradises like Pacha Ibiza. Fusing the nostalgic and magical essence of the golden years of disco music with the most modern and refined production techniques, Purple Disco Machine has managed to revitalize, keep alive, and redefine a genre, becoming the contemporary king of the dance floor worldwide.
