Origins and Early Years

Born on November 10, 1985, in Adelaide, South Australia, Sonny Fodera showed a great affinity for music from a young age. During his teenage years, he took his first steps in production by creating hip hop beats. However, his artistic vision took a radical turn at 18, after attending a session by the legendary Chicago DJ, Derrick Carter. This revelation drove him to immerse himself fully in the infectious frequencies of House and Tech House. Forging a style characterized by powerful basslines and magnetic rhythms, he began releasing his first tracks, managing to embark on his first international tours of the United States and the United Kingdom at 23.

International Breakthrough and Cajual Records

Sonny Fodera's talent did not go unnoticed. His big break came when producer Gene Farris asked him to remix the track 'Dance Warriors' for the prestigious label Cajual Records, owned by Green Velvet. Through this influential label, the Australian released his first two albums: 'Moving Forward' (2013) and 'After Parties & Aeroplanes' (2014). During these years, his name began to consolidate, being pointed out by Mixmag magazine as one of the brightest new talents in dance music. Seeking greater projection, he moved to London, the city from which he definitively boosted his career globally.

Consolidation, Defected Records and Solotoko

In 2016, he marked a milestone in his career by releasing his third album, 'Frequently Flying', under the prestigious label Defected Records. This work, with a more vocal approach and pop arrangements, catapulted him to lead the charts on portals like Beatport. Determined to obtain absolute creative control, he founded his own label, Solotoko, releasing successful albums such as 'Rise' (2019) and 'Wide Awake' (2021). His versatility has led him to collaborate with stars of the stature of Calvin Harris, Diplo, MK and Glass Animals. Global singles like 'Asking' or the overwhelming 'Somedays' (with Jazzy and D.O.D.) have accumulated tens of millions of streams, earning the latter a historic nomination at the 2025 BRIT Awards.

Live Performance Dominance and Ibiza Residencies

Beyond his studio successes, Sonny Fodera has established himself as a titan of live performance. He has headlined stages at world-class festivals, including giants like Tomorrowland, Coachella, Creamfields and EDC Las Vegas. His brutal drawing power has allowed him to sell out venues of the magnitude of Manchester's Co-op Live or London's Alexandra Palace. His deep connection with Ibiza is also unquestionable; after successful cycles at Amnesia and Ibiza Rocks, he has consolidated his legacy by reigning on the island with his acclaimed residency at the legendary nightclub Pacha Ibiza, confirming himself without argument as one of the greatest exponents of current electronic music.
