Tortuga as a compass

The pulse of Tortuga Records marks the new chapter for Sparrow: a warm and rhythmic interpretation of afro house where percussion, harmony, and cultural crossover carry as much weight as club energy. After nearly a decade shaping Sparrow & Barbossa, Bryan Coletta has shifted the focus to his own identity, more flexible and open, without severing the bond with the language that made him a recognizable figure within the international afro house scene.

Piano, diaspora, and the dancefloor

Born in Lausanne, Sparrow grew up close to music before transferring that training to the studio. His foundation as a pianist and his work with harmony, composition, and improvisation explain a production style where soul, jazz, funk, Latin rhythms, and dance electronics coexist. This approach was central to Sparrow & Barbossa, a project in which he acted as producer and musical architect, with tracks like Yeke, Nterini, and Champion, in addition to collaborations with Rampa, Josh Milan, Dele Sosimi, and Idd Aziz. He also expanded his scope toward broader crossovers linked to Sia, Deadmau5, Gypsy, Blessd, and PJ Sin Suela.

From duo to personal narrative

With Sparrow & Barbossa, the album Seven Seas surpassed thirty million streams on digital platforms, while the reinterpretation of Lady alongside Modjo reached number one on the Beatport afro house chart. His journey in the booth has taken him to stages such as Tomorrowland, Coachella, Circoloco Ibiza, Space Miami, and the Montreux Jazz Festival, sharing lineups with Keinemusik, Black Coffee, and Louie Vega. In 2022, he founded Tortuga Records as a space for artists from Latin America and for a concept of Caribbean House based on groove, community, and mestizaje; the label has released music by Meloko, Anis Hachemi, Emir, Band&dos, and Sparrow's own circle.

The solo leap

The solo phase was defined in 2026 with Sweet Desire, alongside Charli, a first statement under his own name that retains the afro and melodic sensibility of his previous catalog, but points toward a broader vision of house. Today, his position combines large-format experience, producer judgment, and a recognizable aesthetic line: organic percussion, luminous melodies, and songwriting designed to unite the dancefloor, the song, and global culture.
